It began as a getaway to the great outdoors of Yosemite National Park for 43-year-old Carole Sund, her teenage daughter and a foreign exchange student from Argentina. But then the three didn't' return home, and Carole's wallet showed up on in Modesto, Calif., miles away. It would take a month to find their bodies. The nation breathed a sigh of relief when suspects were taken into custody. Then, a fourth murder, a young woman employed by the Yosemite Institute. Within days, a suspect had been taken into custody—37-year-old Cedar Lodge handyman Cary Stayner, 37, one of those questioned after the triple killings but released for lack of evidence.
