This is how Tamar gets the party started in the Herbert household.
Tamar’s Party Starter
Pre-made strawberry margarita mix (frozen)
1/3 kettle one
1/3 club soda
1 scoop of strawberry margarita mix
Mix ingredients. Garnish with mint and serve.
Tamar’s Tuna Salad
1 package of noodles
1 package of white albacore tuna, in water
½ onion, chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ cup of celery, finely chopped
1 tablespoon mustard
½ cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper, to taste
Red pepper, to taste
Dried mustard, dash
Paprika (for garnishment)
Crema mexicana, ½ cup (optional)
black olives, sliced (for garnishment, optional)
2 hard boiled eggs, chopped (optional)
Cook Noodles to box directions. Add all ingredients except paprika (and other optional garnishments) in mixing bowl and stir. Transfer to serving dish and sprinkle top layer with paprika (and olives if using). Serve immediately.
Tamar’s Man Catcher #2: Peach Cobbler Dump Cake
1 can of peaches, in water
1 box of Butter recipe cake mix
1 container of Parkay squeezable butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon vanilla flavoring
½ teaspoon coconut flavoring
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. In 4-QT Pyrex dish lay entire can of peaches, with juice, on bottom of baking dish. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top, followed by vanilla and coconut flavorings. Pour entire box of dry cake mix on top of peaches. Squeeze butter on top of cake mix until fully covered. Bake for 45 -50 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve. Serves 6-8 people.
Tamar’s ‘After the Club’ Snack
Peanut butter, of your choosing
Jelly, of your choosing
2 slices of sourdough bread
Coat both sides of bread with butter. Brown one side of each piece of bread in a skillet. Set aside and add peanut butter to the brown side of one piece of bread, and jelly to the other piece on the brown side. Put jelly and peanut butter sides together and put back into skillet. Brown the outsides of both pieces. Take off skillet, cut down the middle and serve immediately.
Tamar’s Bangin™ Bruschetta
1 loaf of French bread, sliced into 1 inch pieces
Olive oil, for brushing
Cream Cheese mixture:
1 package of Philadelphia cream cheese
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
½ teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tomatoes, seeded and chopped up
¼ cup of parsley and cilantro, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Place bread slices on an ungreased baking sheet. Set Aside. Combine cream cheese mixture ingredients in a small bowl. Set Aside. Combine tomato mixture ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside. Brush bread slices with olive oil. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese mixture on top of each slice. Bake in oven until bubbly golden on top. Remove from oven and immediately add about a tablespoon of tomato mixture on top of each slice. Serve immediately. Serves 10-12.
