John Edwards admits to affair, the world mourns two peerless entertainers and Britney stages a comeback

The Dirty Politicians' Club Gets a New Member

Former Democratic presidential petitioner, John Edwards, faced the music last week and finally admitted to having an extramarital affair with filmmaker Rielle Hunter. The one-time North Carolina senator offered his salacious confession to ABC's Nightline, and subsequently, wife, Elizabeth Edwards, publicly expressed support for her husband. The deed gets even more shameless, as Mrs. Edwards was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer last year. Yet another incident to add to the skeezy politician files.

They Will Be Missed

Hollywood bids a sad farewell to two of its talented entertainers. Beloved comedian, Bernie Mac, and musician, Isaac Hayes, both passed away unexpectedly this weekend. Hayes, who would have turned 66 on August 20, was found unresponsive in his home by a family member, Mac, only 50 years old, passed away due to complications resulting from pneumonia. Can You Say TMI?

Matthew McConaughey is a barrel of fun. First, he tells the world he's not a fan of deodorant. Now, the actor reveals he's still in possession of girlfriend Camila Alves' placenta from the July birth of their son, Levi. So, what does one do with a hearty stash of afterbirth? Why plant it in a tree, of course! "It's going to be in the orchards and it's going to bear some wonderful fruit," McConaughey told CNN's "House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta." Um...yuck!

A Little Bit O'Britney

Good news for Britney fans! While it remains unclear whether or not the pop princess will hit the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears teamed up with host Russell Brand for a funny TV promo of the highly anticipated event. Tune in to MTV September 7 for the live show.

Idol Offspring

Clay Aiken welcomed baby boy, Parker Foster Aiken, with 50-year-old record-producer friend, Jaymes Foster, on August 8. The platonic pair, who met on American Idol, plans to raise their baby together, as friends -- thus fueling even more theoretic chatter about Aiken's sexuality. The singer, who usually declines to entertain such inquires, once told New York Magazine of his sex drive, "I've just kind of shut it off, maybe." Oy. And the speculation continues.
