Michael Phelps hosts SNL, J-Lo acts like a diva (no, really?!) and Sarah Silverman blames Jimmy KimmelSNL Hype Olympic champ, Michael Phelps, joined the cast of NBC's
Saturday Night Live, September 13, marking the "ninth best moment" of the swimmer's life. And though audiences have been debating whether or not the athlete delivered the funny, the show saw its
best premiere since the 2001 season.
The night's most outstanding moment was Tina Fey's dead-ringer impersonation of Republican V.P. candidate,
Sarah Palin,
alongside Amy Poehler, who donned her famous Hillary Clinton getup.
However, one politician was not in attendance. Prior to the show's air,
Barack Obama backed out
attributing his inability to be humorous to the impending threat of
Hurricane Ike. Lil' Wayne wowed music fans with his performances of hit
singles, "Got Money" and "Lollipop." All in all, an SNL success!
Run, Diva, Run! Tsk-tsk! During New York Fashion Week,
Jennifer Lopez was a no-show for her scheduled slot as guest judge for
Project Runway's
final show, leaving fans, contestants and some notable judges miffed,
to say the least. Series regular, Tim Gunn, stepped up and "made it
work," filling in as guest judge for the M.I.A. diva. Though Lopez's
camp blamed an ankle injury for the mishap, the infamous prima donna
still managed to compete in a triathlon this Sunday. Since when does an
ankle injury keep anyone from attending a fashion show, but allows them
to run a triathlon just days later? Give us a break, Jenny! As Heidi
would say, "You're out!"
The Truth Comes OutThe world
stopped spinning for a moment when the split between funny duo, Sarah
Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, made news. The comic couple, who had dated
for five years, seemed to be the perfect, imperfect pair. The two have
been tight-lipped on the details behind their decision to part
ways--until now, that is. Silverman hit the red carpet for the Creative
Arts Emmys, ditching her signature causal style. The funny gal arrived
at the event wearing an ivory, lace number, with her hair swept up in a
classy up 'do. She
dropped the bomb,
though, upon delivering her acceptance speech (she nabbed an award for
her famed Matt Damon spoof), saying, "Thanks to the person for whom
this whole video was made: Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart - ohh,
who'll always have a place in my heart." That's food for thought.
Big News for BritIt's
been an exciting few days for Britney Spears! First, the pop princess
celebrated both her boys' birthdays in Beverly Hills, Saturday,
September 13. Spears threw her boys Sean Preston, who turned 3 Sunday,
and Jayden James, who turned 2 on Friday, a car-themed bash alongside
family members, sister Jamie Lynn, who toted her daughter, Maddie, big
brother Bryan and parents Lynne and Jamie. Then, on Monday, Spears'
record label Jive/Zomba released news that the
singer's next album, titled
Circus,
will be released December 22, following the first single, "Womanizer,"
set to hit the airwaves three months prior, September 22.
I Really Don't Love New York Jennifer Hudson is ready to
say "I do!"
The Oscar-winning actress said "yes" when boyfriend of less than one
year, David Otunga, got down on one knee to pop the big question on
Hudson's 27th birthday. Otunga is best known for his appearance as
"Punk" on VH1's hit show,
I Love New York 2, where he vied to
be a suitor for reality star, Miss Tiffany Pollard. The Harvard-grad
made it all the way to the final three, but was ultimately sent home.
Maybe everything happens for a reason, though, because hey, if he
weren't booted, he may never have found his
Dreamgirl!
