ITHINKIVOTED_152x130.jpgAfter months of debate, debauchery and media hysteria, Americans head to the polls to pick their next president.

The bitter battle comes down to the wire as Americans place their presidential votes on Election Day. Despite the often-brutal mudslinging, the 2008 electoral campaigns made historical strides that chipped away at a corroded system and infused passion back into the American people. This year's race also saw the union of politics and a societal tabloid-obsession. This week, the nominees upped their ante in a last ditch attempt to snatch any remaining undecided voters.

Palin Prank
Sacrebleu! Canadian radio comics Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel struck gold this week when they aimed their famous prank phone call shtick at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The VP candidate was made to believe that she was receiving encouraging words from French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

"One of my favorite activities is to hunt, too," Audette cooed in a faux French accent. "I just love killing those animals!"

An animated Palin responded, "We should go hunting together. We can have a lot of fun together while we're getting work done. We could kill two birds with one stone."

"As long as we don't invite Vice President Cheney!" the phony prez joked.

Despite Audette's incitement for uncouth banter, Palin held her own during the hoax, repeatedly expressing her gratitude for the phone call. She courteously laughed off uncomfortable matters such as Audette's mention of pornographic spoof Nailin' Paylin. Even when the comedian compared Joe the Plumber to France's middle-class guy-next-door, "Marcel, the guy with bread under his armpit," Palin resisted the bait.

Audette told The Canadian Press, "We're proud to add [this prank] to our top hits."

McCain Is Funny
John McCain visited NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend, following the likes of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. The senator poked fun at his campaign, claiming that despite Obama's major network commercials, he and Sarah Palin "could only afford QVC."

During the "Weekend Update" with Seth Meyers, McCain told viewers about his "last-minute strategies," dubbing one of them, The Sad Grandpa. "That's where I get on TV and go, 'C'mon, Obama's gonna have plenty of chances to be president! It's my turn! Vote for me!'" joked the Arizona senator.

At a rally in Columbus, Ohio, Barack Obama voiced his approval, saying, "John McCain was funny yesterday... but that's part of what our politics should be about, being able to laugh at each other, but also laugh at ourselves."

The Hollywood Vote
Don't send that call to voicemail--it might just be an A-list celebrity!

Sarah Jessica Parker left little to the political imagination wearing pins emblazoned with Barack's image and a "Change" t-shirt to Obama's NYC headquarters on Thursday. The Sex and the City star joined volunteers in making calls to ambivalent voters at the Illinois senator's phone bank. Other stars expected to hit the lines? Matthew Broderick, Edie Falco and Uma Thurman--just to name a few.

The celebrity endorsement hardly stopped there. On Friday, Obama-enthusiast Oprah Winfrey announced that she voted Thursday in Chicago, thanks to Illinois' early-voting laws. Winfrey waited a full 72 minutes to vote, in an attempt to avoid Tuesday's masses. She explained, "I was worried...I have a live show."
