Although news stories about the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti
are decreasing, it doesn't mean that the organizations working there
don't still need your help - they do, and will continue to do so for a
long time.
If you like to cook, or have friends who like to
cook, why not throw a fundraising dinner party for your favorite
nonprofit working in Haiti, and serve Haitian cuisine? You can either
cook all of the food yourself, or ask everyone to bring a dish. Provide
information about your favorite nonprofit's work in Haiti, and collect
donations from your guests. Be sure to let them know it is a
fundraising party in the invitation so that they will bring their
checkbooks, or you can have a computer nearby so that they can make a
donation online.
I've never had Haitian cuisine before, have you? According to Wikipedia, some of the traditional dishes are Griot (Fried boar/pork), Soup Joumou (Pumpkin soup), and Tassot et Banane Pesé or Tasso et Banane Pézé (Fried Beef and Plantains).
Below are links to some Haitian recipes I found online. Please share yours in the comments:
