screaming-152.jpgSara tries to break the record for wedding-related insanity.

By Sara Cardace

Well, here it is. I can't believe the wedding is actually this weekend. As I look back over this past year's-worth of blog posts I'm stunned that I've been planning this thing for so long, and yet it feels like it's all happening so suddenly. For the past month or so, John and have been running around so manically that we really haven't had a moment to sit down and think about it all. We've actually both lost a ton of weight as a result, which makes me glad I left my alterations somewhat to the last minute - my jeans actually fell off as I was running from appointment to appointment one day this week! (One of the other fringe benefits of being so busy is that there's really no time for the nerves to kick in, and I'm really glad for that.)

This past week totally broke the record on wedding-related insanity. John and I were on such a tight work-slash-planning schedule that every single day was booked to the minute. We printed out the escort and table number cards, called and confirmed all the vendors and restaurant reservations, sent out pretty little agendas for the weekend to all the immediate family, finalized our vows, and dropped off welcome bags full of wine, water, H&H bagels, and snacks for my sisters and parents at the Hotel Beacon, where John and I will be staying as well the night of the wedding. Meanwhile we've been hassling the resort where we'll be going for our honeymoon (ten days baby!) in an effort to get a decent room, and finalizing the songs for all our special dances - John and his mom are going to dance to "Thank You" by Paul Simon, and I think my dad and I are going to dance to "Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. I know it's kind of an unconventional choice for the father-daughter dance, but I like the 'all the time in the world' feeling it evokes. That's how I like to think about my Dad. For our first dance, John and I are dancing to "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes, a song we've been settled on for a really long time. I actually think I read in Us Weekly that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson danced to it at their wedding, but I'm choosing to ignore that!

Ok. Now it's time to run to Target to pick up some last-minute supplies, then to the eye doctor's (somehow I managed to run out of contact lenses just days before the wedding - typical), and then I'm picking up a Uhaul I booked earlier this week so my friend Molly and I can drive a ton of crap over to the venue in preparation for the big day. You should see my little apartment - the kitchen is full of curly willow branches, there are white delphiniums sitting in water all over the living room, huge boxes of candles and vases have taken over the bedroom, and there are bags and bags of wedding junk crammed in every corner. And the kitchen is crowded with tupperwares full of the cookies I made for our favor table. (I have to give a shout-out to John's and my mothers here - I think combined they've baked something like 2,000 cookies! Not kidding!)

Once we're done at the venue today, my job is pretty much over. My sister and her husband are picking up my gown, and another sister kindly volunteered to go buy me some Spanx (the dreaded Spanx, I should say). After that it's just the rehearsal dinner, a hopefully very long night's sleep, and then the big day.

Keep your fingers crossed for us, ok? We're both getting really, really excited. :)
