Ok, so that other blog post I wrote about not needing a trainer and thinking I could get in great shape for the wedding just by doing some workout DVD's and swearing off cheese? Well ... there's been a slight change of plans.
I did it. I decided to sign up for training sessions. Aside from the fact that my Jillian Michaels cardio blast mornings would seriously piss off my new downstairs neighbor, I knew I wasn't really bringing my A-game. With just four months to go, I needed serious motivation. I needed a plan and appointments and a real person forcing me to lunge and lift and not let me use the puny three pound weights anymore. (Apparently I can lift the 10 pound ones, who knew?) And I have to tell you, I think it's the best thing I've ever done.

It's only been 3 sessions so far, but I am totally hooked! My trainer Sarah is great. I have learned some really cool exercises and how to use those machines I was too intimidated to attempt on my own. (Isn't it the worst when you sit down at some crazy contraption and realize you have no clue what to do and then have to get up and walk away and hope no one saw you?)

I made the mistake of telling Sarah on Saturday that I really wanted to focus on legs. Well ... two days later, I am still focusing on my legs because I can barely walk, sit, stand ... move (which is making my life a bit challenging to say the least).

As cheesy as this sounds, it's not just about the wedding. I want to do this for "real life" too. Sarah said it takes about 6-8 weeks to see results and I am VERY excited. And I have to give a shout out to one of my BFF's Rach who really convinced me to just go ahead and sign up. She went to a trainer for her wedding (and still goes) and really sold me on the idea. And my aunt Julie (the MOH) has been going to a trainer for a couple years now and she can do like 50 push-ups to my feeble ... one. Well, Jul ... just wait ... it's ON!

So, basically guys ... here's what I've learned so far. When you are paying someone to get you in shape, you're more motivated. When you have an appointment, you are forced to show up. And when you're on the elliptical and there's a Real Housewives of New Jersey marathon on, you will burn at least 6,000 calories because you'll totally lose track of time...
