By Jessica Solloway

If you read last week's blog, you know how wonderful the shower that Seth's mom hosted in New Jersey was. And just when I thought there wasn't another pot, pan or platter left in the universe that I didn't already have, "shower season" continued in Cleveland this past weekend. A group of my mom's friends hosted a really lovely shower Sunday morning for brunch. It was at this great restaurant, set up on a private patio.

My shower hostesses should seriously go into business. They have party planning down to a science. Each one covered a task, and when it all came together, everything was perfect. From the flowers on each table, to the special custom menus, and the adorable cookies in the shape of wedding cakes and dresses with everyone's names on it (thanks to my baker friend Niki), it was such a beautiful party. I got to see so many family friends that I haven't seen in years, and it was just great to catch up and celebrate. Again I waited until the last minute to find something to wear (what's wrong with me?), but I got a cute dress (on sale!) that worked out great.

I got both beautiful and practical gifts. Candlesticks, platters, bowls, some lingerie from both my mother AND future mother-in-law (awkward, much?) and a cheeseboard to nicely display my favorite food. Not to mention, we now have a toaster that doesn't shoot flames to let you know the toast is done. Hooray!

All in all -- I had two fabulous, special showers and I am very thankful for all the hard work that everyone put in to plan them for me.

Seth and I are heading to New York this weekend for a friend's wedding, and it's the last one we have until our own, which is kind of crazy!  While I'm there, I am also going to scope out some stores for wedding shoes. Hopefully I'll find what I'm looking for.

Next up on the To Do list:

  • We have to start thinking about programs for the ceremony! My friend Adina is designing ours and I want to give her lots of time to work on them.
  • We need to start looking wedding rings, woohoo!
  • We need to finalize the plans for our rehearsal dinner.
  • We need to majorly clean out the cabinets to make room for all of our new kitchen stuff!
  • And how could i forget, a bazillion thank you notes for my shower gifts.
I am getting anxiety (and possibly hives) just thinking about this! Deep breaths. Deep breaths. And maybe a glass of wine...

See you next week!
