Jess gets ready for her first shower and a fun family weekend.

By Jessica Solloway

My wedding is now 3 months away and all of the fun, exciting festivities leading up to it are starting to get into full swing. My first shower is this weekend and I am so excited. I spent all last weekend looking for something cute to wear. Note to self: Last minute shopping is not fun. While Seth spent the afternoon testing out massage chairs at The Sharper Image and reading political blogs on computers at the Mac store, I braved the crowded mall and luckily ended up finding a really cute dress at French Connection. And I already had shoes that go perfectly with it. So, as a "dubious bride" I consider that a money saver in itself.

I headed to New Jersey early to spend time with my family before the shower. Upon arrival I was greeted with a martini the size of my head (cool grandparents, huh?) and I knew the weekend was off to a great start. I also noticed a neatly piled stack of presents that will be taken to the shower. I really can't wait to actually own nice things. Maybe my omelettes will finally look edible if they're made in an expensive pan.

Aside from the shower, it's going to be great for my family and Seth's family to get to spend a lot of time together. His cousin Jess and her boyfriend are coming in from Rhode Island and both of his grandmothers are coming in from New York. I have lots of family in town too, including my mom and aunt, so I am so looking forward to all the fun. A bunch of my friends from New York are coming to the shower and I can't wait to see them.

On another note - the trainer is going well. I have really been motivated to go and do "my moves" (as i like to call them) myself at the gym. I feel like I am learning a lot from my weekly sessions and am finally one of those people that I used to look at and wonder how they knew how to use all those scary machines. And just an hour ago, I took a walk around the development my grandparents live in. Not sure why I decided that running UP all the hilly parts in 90 degree weather was a good idea. So on that note... I better go hover near an air conditioning vent. See ya next week!
