wedding-shoe-152.jpgJess starts her search for the perfect wedding shoe. Sexy, comfy and stylish...can it be done?

By Jessica Solloway

I have my first dress fitting in less than two weeks and they suggested I have my wedding shoes by then. Eeek! This job was not at the top of my to-do list this month! I haven't even begun to look. But, if I've learned anything from my friends, wedding shoe shopping is a task not to be taken lightly. We all know the truth; the sole purpose of gorgeous wedding shoes is for your photographer to take really awesome pictures of, so when you're old you can remember you once wore 4 inch heels. And for your girlfriends to swoon over. They are certainly not intended to be comfortable, easy to dance in, or functional, right?

Some of my BFF's that have recently gotten married have really stepped it up with their wedding shoes. I always thought you had to go with white or ivory dyables. While that will always be a classic, traditional way to go, lately I've seen gold, silver or bejeweled heels that really add personal style to the wedding day look. And it doesn't hurt that after dropping a pretty penny on them, you can actually wear them again all year long.

Below is a little inspiration board I created to get my brain in wedding shoe shopping mode. Unless I win the lottery soon, Louboutins are out of the question for moi ... but a girl can dream, right?

Top Left:
Another friend Betsy rocked these Christian Louboutin Glitter Peep-Toe Slingbacks for her wedding. She also wore them to her rehearsal dinner so we could really get a good look! Gorgeous!

Bottom Left:
I heart these Sequin Peep-Toe Pumps from Valentino ... another dream shoe. Sigh.

Bottom Right:
Pretty in pink! Since I've spent lots of time scouring the wedding blogs, I've noticed many brides opt for funky, bright colored shoes to add some pop to their wedding day look. These Kate Spade Clarice heels are adorable!

Top Right:
These Stuart Weitzman Pomposo peep toe white satin heels are a classic, chic choice. I really love them! And I think they're on sale at Zappos...hmmm.

Let's be honest ... in a perfect world, I'd wear some white flip flops and call it a day. I love to dance and cannot be slowed down by massively high heels I can barely walk in. Plus, "Amazon Bride" is not the look I'm going for. I'm already 5'8. No need to be 6'3 on my wedding day. I can just picture myself towering over the guests screaming, "Give me some cake!!!!!"

I have a pretty busy weekend because I'll be in New Jersey for my first shower. Seth's mom is graciously hosting and and I can't wait! Bring on the pots and pans, ladies! But hopefully next week I can start tackling the shoe situation. Send me some suggestions if you have any!!
