Irina and Jayne Dolinskiy
Parent's Names: Irina Gonikberg Dolinskiy and Zhan Dolinskiy
Child's Name: Jayne Dolinskiy

Jayne was born in New York City, fell in love with Broadway shortly thereafter, and has been performing ever since. She loves singing (everything from show tunes to Cheetah Girls), dancing (everything from tap to hip-hop), and has been figure skating for over two years. She often asks what events I have planned for her participation in the near future. So for us, pageants provide one more answer to that question, and one more stage for Jayne to perform on. The participation in "Little Miss Perfect" was especially great because Jayne's dream was to be on TV. She also got to meet the wonderful and talented people who worked on and/or participated in the show and provided all the girls with an example of hard work and accomplishment.

Every little girl who is given opportunities to explore her talents and to pursue her aspirations--be they academic, athletic and/or creative--grows up to be successful, confident and empowered. And as she realizes that she should persevere for those dreams she still believes in, and that she can let go of those dreams that are no longer hers, she learns to think and make decisions for herself.

My hope for Jayne is that her pageant experience will become part of this important process by affording another venue for her creativity. I also know that the pageant will help Jayne develop a spirit of good sportsmanship, and will teach her that, whether or not she wins, as long as she finds the courage to try, she will always be a winner. It is important to note that Jayne's participation in pageants does not interfere with her many other activities and her schoolwork. As an example, Jayne loves math, reads her favorite books by herself, and enjoys playing on the computer. And, most importantly, pageant preparation and participation counts as additional quality time Jayne and her mom get to spend together!

Once a decision to participate in a pageant has been made, regrets can only result from forgetting the very reason why we (and not anyone else!) entered it. Just like a beautiful fairy tale with a lesson that's personal to each reader, a pageant is there to be experienced and interpreted in a unique way by each participant, which will make sense only to her. In other words, a pageant is only what we make of it, and if we make it a positive experience serving the right purpose, there will be no regrets.

Jayne's grandmother gave her support and encouragement, just like she had encouraged Jayne's mom (me) to pursue various interests such as piano, gymnastics, writing and theater, ultimately allowing her to choose those activities she could excel at. As for Jayne's extended family, it consists of some extraordinary and open-minded people of all ages with a wide range of interests of their own, so all of them were thrilled for Jayne and very supportive of her venture into the world of pageants!

"...a pageant is only what we make of it, and if we make it a positive experience serving the right purpose, there will be no regrets."

What a great attitude! If only everyone could view pageants like that, the world of pageants would be such a different one (for the bettter). This gives me hopes for this show...

Also, I forgot to say that I like this line: "I also know that the pageant will help Jayne develop a spirit of good sportsmanship, and will teach her that, whether or not she wins, as long as she finds the courage to try, she will always be a winner" - should prove some of the naysayers wrong. Nor your typical pageant competitor!

HI! MY CHILD LOVES TO DO PAGEANTS. YOU GET PEOPLE SAY CRAZY THING TO YOU. LIKE YOU MAKE THEM DO OR YOU JUST WANT TO DO BECASE YOU NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO DO IT. MY CHILD IS A B HONOR ROLL STUDENT AND SHE KNOWS IF GRADES DROP I DROP A PAGEANT. SHE LOVES PAGEANTS SO MUCH THAT MY OLDEST SON HAD A PAGEANT AT HIS SCHOOL AND SHE HEARD ABOUT IT AND ASKED TO BE IN IT I TOLD HER NO SHE CRIED SO MUCH IT HURT ME TO SEE HER LIKE THAT. HER FATHER SAT DOWN WITH HER AND EXPLAINED THAT SHE HAD TO BE IN 6TH GRADE TO DO THE PAGEANT (SHE IS ONLY IN 2ND GRADE). I LET HER TELL ME WHICH ONES SHE WOULD LIKE TO DO BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN UNHAPPY KIDS BEFORE AT A PAGEANT. TO ME ITS ABOUT THE "PAGEANT FAMILY" WE HAVE, OR THE PEOPLE YOU MEET AND NEW FRIENDSHIPS YOU MAKE WHEN YOU GO. SHE KNOWS IF SHE DOESN'T WIN THERE IS A NEXT ONE AND THE NEXT ONE AFTER THAT.

WOW!! How the hell can parents do this to their kids? These parents are pathetic. LET YOUR KIDS BE KIDS.!! These kids are going to grow up being obsessive controling freaks like their parents. Half of these kids don't even seem happy. They will grow up to be self-conscious and strive to make everyone else happy BUT THEMSELVES. I HONESTLY THINK THAT IT'S A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Parents don't you think that their college education might be a better choice for them? Invest in higher education. With the economy like it is, it would be better if they would save money for college. these parents obviously didn't get what they wanted when they were young. Though s**t. How many of these moms don't work? seems like most of them. Stop spending your hubands money, This is how marriages end, all just because the moms want to play dress up and make-up. How bad is it for the childs skin? When they hit puberity they are going to have bad skin. WAY TO GO MOM!! HOPE YOUR KID DOESN'T END UP BEING A SELF OBSEST FREAK LIKE YOU ARE.

these children are beautiful.if they enjoy it,the jury is out on the consequenses down the road.

the absolute infuriating irony i saw was, do the moms ever hit the make up,hair stylist or God forbi the gym?

come on, even if i were young, in a redpectful way i would tell my mom "please try to take some pride in your appearence"

can't quite buy they "can't afford the gym",run a lap... or 20,
and heaven knows the household has plenty of
beauty products.
are you kidding me?

THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING MENTALLY OBSCURE ABOUT THESE MOTHERS.HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF PARENTS WHEN YOU ARE DRAGGING AND PUSHING THE LIFE OUT OF THESE PRECIOUS ANGELS.THE STRESS OF ALWAYS DOING IT RIGHT AND NEVER ABLE TO MAKE A MISTAKE WHAT KIND OF EXAMPLES ARE YOU SETTING FOR THESE CHILDREN. YOU SHOULD BE TEACHING THEM HOW TO DO ADDITION,SUBTRACTION,FARCTIONS NOT HOW MUCH MAKE UP THEY SHOULD WEAR OR SHOULD THEY OR SHOULDNT THEY WEAR FAKE EYELASHES.TELLING A CHILD THAT WHEN THEY SING A SONG THAT IT WASNT RIGHT OR NOT PERFECT ENOUGH FOR YOU.GETTING A FIVE YEAR OLD SINGING LESSONS BECAUSE THE SONG WAS NOT SUNG TO YOUR STANDARDS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WRONG.THESE MOTHERS ARE LIVING OUT THEIR FANTASIES OUT THROUGH THEIR CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO THEMSELVES.I AM A MOTHER OF TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS AND I WOULDNT DREAM OF SUBJECTING THEM TO SUCH A LIFE OF SUCH SCRUTINY AND DISAPPOINTMENT WHEN THEY DONT WIN. TO TELL YOUR CHILD THAT SHE HAS TO BE BEAUTIFUL TO MAKE IT THROUGH LIFE IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE ON SO MANY LEVELS. THEY SIT THERE AND EXPECT THEIR CHILD TO WIN AND WHEN THEY DONT THEY MAKE THE CHILD FEEL BAD AND WORK EXTRA HARD FOR THE NEXT PAGEANT. GET A CLUE MOM IF YOU HAVE BEEN TO 75 OR MORE PAGEANTS AND HAS NOT WON YET SHE IS NOT GOING TO NOW ON A PERSONAL NOTE THE PARENTS OF BROOKE AND ASIA THEY ARE MANIPULATING AND VERY SELFISH PEOPLE TO TELL YOUR CHILD THAT SHE HAS A RIVAL AT THE AGE OF FUCKING 5 YEARS OLD YOU SHOULD BE SENT AWAY TO A REALITY CAMP TO GET A GRASP ON LIFE AND CHERISH THE JOY THEY HAVE IN FRONT OF THEM(JDM)

First off... the snot in the last comment has her shows mixed up! Painted Babies was filmed in 1995. Obviously, the pageant world is interesting enough that you kept watching through Painted Babies to Little Miss Perfect. If it makes you that mad, turn the channel. Its not that hard, apparently everyone but pageant mothers have gym memberships and are health nuts, so get up off the couch and turn the channel.

Also, you don't know these peoples lives who they feature on Little Miss Perfect! You don't know what they do during the week! How dare someone publically post comments trashing someone without knowing the whole story. And, for your information... Brooke stoped doing pageants shortly after and started attending a private HS WHICH she used her pageant money won to help pay for and has started attending a University while still in HS. Maybe you miss that episode of Painted Babies... Where are they Now!

Second off, I am a married working mother of one daughter. She has been doing pageant since she was 9 months. We do mostly natural pageants. But ignorant people only believe what they see on tv and don't know the ins and outs of the pageant world. I am new to it myself, but I know enough and have gotten more support FOR putting my daughter into them then flack.

Finally, Jayne, honey, you do whatever you want. Be whatever you want to be and have fun baby. Nevermind the people who are uneducated about the pageant world. They have aboslutely no clue how much fun they really are. I am looking fowared to your episode next week.

I am always amazed when I watch these pageants. It just doesn't seem natural to me. Tonight I saw Jayne. She is the only one that truly looks and acts like the little girl that she is. And because of that, our vote is for Jayne. You go girl!! Show them that you don't have to be fake and have a fake smile to be beautiful.

Jane is so cute. She has such a great personality. I enjoyed watching her on the show. Kudos to you Mom!

Dear Jayne,
You are adorable, funny, and absolutely unique. Your mother should be very proud of you. Jayne made me laugh during the show , and I hope to see her again. She was the best!!! Jayne's has great personality and light up the screen all by herself. Her mother truly goes to pageants to make her little girl happy. Even when things did not go quite as expected, her mom was proud of her and does what really matters. I wish you both the best in everything and congratulate parents like this mom who just wants to see her little princess happy!!

Thank you everyone so much for your kind comments about Jayne! This appreciation of her performance is worth more to us than any first prizes or trophies. If you have a minute, you can also see the "real" Jayne at her two Access Hollywood appearances where she talked about the show (links are below)...

Thanks again!

I'm sure you understand how the editing can potray a negative image and good tv is just good tv. Your daughter seemed so sweet, fun, smart and we'd love to invite you to Katelyn's birthday party on March 14th. Thanks and congratulations on a job well done!

I grew up wanting to do pageants, and my mom let me.. I respect it with all my heart. But tonight I watched an episode where girls were wearing giant hair pieces. Come on - that is not fair at all. How is that "perfect"? When they get older they can only get away with maybe fake extenstions. How can you expect to promote the circuit when you allow everyone to pull it off on fake crap? As they get older it truly is about honest beauty inside and out - they will get older and one day know their beauty. MOM it isn't for you to decide. You may think so, but you are obviously living vicariously through your daughter, andI am very sorry. They will do what they want, and I promise as soon as you realize that you are not in control you will understand.
MOM, you have to think about what is right for you, and what is right for your daughter. There is nothing wrong with pageants, just make sure you are doing it for her - not for you.
Love,
KCL

Irina and Jayne, Jayne, i loved the way you presented yourself in your episode. i have enjoyed watching a few of the young girls on the episodes (Jayne, Katelyln and Shelby). they are the only 3 so far that i feel that have appeared natural. they were not made up and they acted pretty much like the little girls they should be acting like. Jayne, it looks like you are having a good time out there. Irina you have done a good job in raising your daughter. she seems very polite and well adjusted. and to think that her favorite show is (POTO.) Phantom of The Opera. one of mine too. i ( and i am sure many others) look forward to seeing Jayne again. dd
