Parent's Names: Leslie Ann Campbell Child's Name: Hadlie Templin
My name is Leslie Ann and I'm the mother of 8 year-old Hadlie Sage, 12 year-old Kennedy Hope, and 16 year-old Leighton River. I have lived in Orlando for 40 years. And I've been a freelance make up artist for over 20 years. I love anything to do with fashion and pageantry!
When I gave birth to my first daughter Kennedy I was so thrilled to put her in first pageant. I soon realized that being a vendor in the pageant business did not mean that all things would be easy for my children in the competitions. I look at pageants a little differently than most pageant moms, because at the end of the day, doing hair and makeup is my job. When the pageant is over most moms go home and back to their everyday lives, but not my family!! I work during the week doing pictures for models and pageant clients. So you can say pageants are a big part of our life, most of the time. I'm very lucky that all my children enjoy school, make good grades and enjoy traveling with me every weekend to the different pageants.
Hadlie was so excited when we got the call to come to the audition for Little Miss Perfect. I was a little worried about the schedule. I had a feeling that taping would be at the same time as another pageant and I would have to choose between the two. Instead our taping ended up being the same weekend as Miss Perfect teen in Orlando. The week was crazy to say the least! Getting Hadlie ready for the pageant and doing hair and make up for over 40 contestants was CRAZY.
I think Hadlie's favorite part was the WOW wear. Miss Mona and Hadlie came up with a great routine. Hadlie learned her routine in less than a week, and I got the perfect outfit together. At the end of the whole experience I would say that I had many mixed feelings, but Hadlie would say, "Let's do this again!" She had so much fun. Hadlie has decided with 100% certainty that her path in life is to be a "big TV star."

Do you sell pageant dresses. I am interested in buying some and if you don't do you know where to get the dresses and who to contact
I know of no retail source to recommend, but if you are otherwise unsuccessful in finding what you are looking for, I would be happy to discuss creating your special little dresses. I am in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but your dresses would be in standard sizes, I assume, so fittings would not be involved. I am an experienced seamstress, coming out of retirement, and my past clients (ranging from a lady preacher, professional fashion models, recital participants to, of course, my own now-grown daughters, and numerous others; were well pleased. I also wish to serve larger-sized women, to offer them custom fit and flattering style, as this segment of our population is so neglected!
I am in the process of forming a business, which will be known as "As Befits You." I will be on the web in the near future, but must first perfect my web page design, etc.

This is something I am thinking of getting my 2yr old into. I just wanted to share with you guys this website www.fifthavenuecollection.com/jpowers It is wonderful fashion jewelry and is lead & nickel free!! To Aspiring would I just call you and tell you what I would like, size, and whatever else? Then you would give me a price. Not sure how that would work. Thnx
Hadley's mom: I didn't watch this show before tonite because I figured I would be annoyed and although I was surprised to see at least one normal family you fit the bill of the obsessed beauty pagent mom --- she doesn't look real - the way she talked to Shelby should be a red flag; you are turning your daughter into a self-centered brat. How funny you would say that you worry she is doing it for you --- you have to be kidding ! Of course she is! Good luck when she hates you for this someday. The price of a dress for a pagent- $1000.00. Tanning spray - $100 . A messed up teen --- PRICELESS. Btw , instead of tanning her why don't you let her play outside in the real sunshine.
Both girls are so cute! The show made me cry last night at the end, because even with all the pageants we have competed in etc. I saw how the child really felt.I saw the pain in the moms and the daughters eyes when she did not win. My girls usually win, so I have no experience with the loss side.I really thought Hadlie's mom did a total package look with her-bravo! Love the swimsuit! It was the classest, I think I have ever seen-both of them.I loved your crosses and decorations too. Your house looked beautiful. Watch us on LMP episoside 5.Hope to meet you both at a pageant someday! Amber and Kris Olive
I just want to say I thought you did a wonderful job with Hadlie at the Little Miss Perfect Pageant! She looked beautiful! I have a 10 year old daughter who wants to get back into pageants, we have not done any in 5 years. I have been searching the internet for hair and makeup ideas any suggestions? Also, we live in Kentucky do you have any contacts here who you would recommend that do hair/makeup and pageant photos? Loved the show! Good luck to Ms. Hadlie!

Being a "star" is not a job. Acting is. Singing is. Performing is. My daughter is an actress and when she told me she wanted to be a Star, I told her that wanting to be a Star means wanting to GET something from people, INSTEAD of focusing on offering something, such as talent, commitment and passion for her craft. And that her motives were not in sync with ever having any success at it. It doesn't work that way...
Well, I will tell you that she is a star with me cause she works hard, never turns down a role because it is too small or the theatre to unknown, stays up all night working on her role so that she GIVES the audience her best, not so she can get to be a STAR. It's a huge distinction and one I am glad she nipped in the bud early on. The kids that only had stars in their eyes? Working at McDonald's or caring for 3 kids they had before 21 because the first moron that made them feel LIKE A STAR swept them off their feet. A cautionary tale.
Please don't let the Paris HIlton generation lead your daughter to focus on her ego, or a desire for adoration, instead of her gifts and what she can move inside of people, and offer to the world, with her talents.
Love these pageant moms...they spend a fortune to do the hair, do the make up, get the fake tans, get the fake teeth, get the costumes, get the coach to make the routines....and then are so proud of their young children for simply walking on stage in the adult get-up they have created and smiling. The only girl to have the "full package" was Shelby - she was beautiful inside and out. America sure saw it, but apparently the judges didn't. Hopefully her parents have learned what a sick racket this whole pageant world is, and will quit wasting their hard earned money on it.
Hadley's Mom. Did you rewatch the show? Watch it again after the "high" from winning wears off. Go to the part where she was rude to Shelby -- she spoke down to her. All your hard work is paying off ! You have an "effected" snot of a child. Parenting at it's best -- Yea for you! The screwed up adult she will be is going to be all your fault. You'll pin it on something else but as you lay awake worrying about how did it go all wrong you will know deep down it's ALL YOUR FAULT! You need to drop some pounds and get a life of your own. Hadley is going to hate you some day for living out your unfulfilled dreams through her.
Hi Leslie: I am the mother of an 8 year old girl, and all I can tell you is that the message you are sending Hadley is this:
YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH.
She is only "enough" once she has donned the wholly age-inappropriate clothes, the Oompa Loompa tan, the fake hair and on and on.
You have set your child up for a lifetime of NOT ENOUGH, of feeling inadequate, of judging herself and others by what is on their outside and not inside her/their loving hearts.
Not to mention the criticism and control that come directly from you to poor Hadley. Her "approval rating" from you is based on how she performs, not on who she is.
My heart really goes out to you, Leslie, because it is so clear that you feel on so many levels that YOU are not enough. I hope that you will have the courage and honesty to look within, through the help of a counselor or other qualified professional, and resolve your own issues so you can stop projecting them on an innocent child.
Poor you. Poor Hadley. Poor us for watching this horrific train-wreck-of-a-show.
There is a local store in Orlando or online: So Sweet Boutique, sosweetboutique.com, they have a nice variety of pageant dresses for kids and the owners are very nice and down to earth!
Hey Leslie & Hadlie!! you looked so beautiful and I am so proud of you guys! miss you tons and I want to see you guys soon! and give Ken Ken love for me xoxoxo Bailey
I think this is good for younger children because their actully doing somthing in their lives then sleeping all day and watching tv.I wish I could be there to see all the fun they have in their eyes and if I was one to cause im still young enough.
These little "beauty queens" are the CREEPIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! You are on national tv bragging and dismissing the fact that your EIGHT YEAR OLD CHILD has a personality disorder. Yes, OCD is a DISORDER and you are promoting it! What in the world is wrong with you??? This is CHILD ABUSE!!! Has not one other sane person accidently tuned into this show and called the police??? You are tanning, doing the nails and putting HAIR EXTENSIONS on your EIGHT YEAR OLD CHILD. All parents who abuse their children like this and put them under this kind of stress, making them complete to be PERFECT need to be arrested, put behind bars and NEVER allowed children. You are making your child live out what you are not able to do!
I cannot believe you are pouring DIET MT DEW calling it "power juice" down your child's throat. I can't believe you are teaching your child the values of being a DIVA!!! Social services HAS to be called on you. I can't believe you are actually doing this on national TV!!!
These children look so creepy in a all that makeup! I think your child will give me nightmares! Children being made to look like twenty year olds and perform like trained monkies and compete to be "PERFECT." WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU????
Are you really proud that you CHILD is going to bed thinking she is a "Beauty queen" and "LITTLE MISS PERFECT?" A child needs to be taught humility and that no one is PERFECT. She is a child!
So, how does it all work? You talked about the large pagaent family, I guess the director is part of your family. You want be able to fix everything for your daughter then what ?
Leslie,
you say you love the fashion industry, so you wear frumpy clothes...the message you are sending to your daughter is get married have kids gain weight, and absolutley show no self pride......I must say that when your daughter is a typical kid she is cute but very average...goes to show that enought make-up can really make most people attractive...your daughter with make-up appears robotic not natural....and it is a shame because you are setting here up for failure...because her looks will not sustain her....Oh and i do love the breakfast of champions "mtn. Dew" I can only imagine you give her red bull when the camera is not on you....Please take a class in nutrition, obesity is genetic...
Leslie, I have to say that I have 2 beautiful girls and I would never make them do something I was never able to do. You know down deep inside your daughter is living your dream not hers. A child only wants to please their parents no matter what because they want you to love them. It seems that your daughter thinks that if she does these pageants and "nails" every single part of her routine you will love her for that. You need to take a really good look at your life and how your raising your daughter. She was very rude to the other little girl by the name of Shelby and she seems like a snob. I would never let my daughters play or even associate with a child like that. You need to look deep inside and fix this mistake your making with Hadley before it's too late. She will look back someday and hate all of this and you as well. Life dosen't revolve her no matter what she and you may think.
I watched the show tonight out of curiousity and was disgusted at how some of these children acted towards their parents and other children. Hadlie was rude, snotty and acted like a brat. I couldn't believe it when her mother said at the end that her child is kind and thoughtful of everyone. Does she really know her daughter, I have 2 beautiful children who have been approached to model, but I want them to be children. I would never allow my children to talk to others the way Hadlie did and certainly not talk to me like that. I have taught them to be kind to themselves. These pageants are way over the top and so unnatural. They should use Shelby as an example on what to look for. She was adorable without all the "fake", sweet and natural. Good luck to you mom and let's hope you haven't created something you will regret later.
I am shocked, appalled, disappointed and nearly speechless at what I have seen on these comments. I did not see the episode of LMP that all of you are referring to, but I think I understand the bulk of what went on. About the mountain Dew controversy. I am 11 years old and my Mother barely allows me to drink soda, and I know she would never allow that much sugar to enter my body at one time. To force a sugary soda down your daughters throat and to tell her that it will benefit her pageant abilities, that is horrible.
Also, about the pageant mother living her dreams through her daughter, that is CRAP! If you sucked as a child, deal with it, make the best out of your adulthood! Don't force your hopes and dreams upon a little innocent girl!!!!!!!
Keep in mind these episodes are the result of BRILLIANT work done by Editors. Thats how reality TV works, it spends less money on actors and more money on Editing. These episodes were designed for us as viewers to hate one family and love the other. That being said........
People posting on this page, harshly judging, calling them "bad parents" are just as rude as the way Hadlie treated Shelby. What's worse, Leslie giving Hadlie Mountain Dew or people telling Leslie that some day her daughter will hate her? Who are we to put our own personal judgment on the situation?
We wonder as a nation why our children grow up learning skewed views on the world, and we make the answer so obvious with rude internet posting. I'm sure watching these episodes, Leslie has seen some things that she maybe didn't know were going on with her and her daughter, but for us to shove that down her throat is not just wrong, it's rude.
I'm not saying that I agree with children being fed soda and being raised in an environment where stress and pressure are at unhealthy levels, I'm thinking that it's just as bad to be really rude and judgmental to those people. Why don't we spend the energy on discussing ways to fix the problems, so they happen less in general.
oh my good,I from europe, and dont no what to say for this show....it is upsetting, and not real,it is fake .....and all the child like plastic dolls doing what mommy tel them.poor girls!!
I think hadlie is such a beautiful little girl!!! You do such a fantastic job with all of those girls hair. The lord blessed me with a baby boy, so I just borrow my niece and put her in all of the pageants. The thing is, I am the worlds worst with trying to do this girls hair. I have NO CLUE what to do with any of the hair pieces. If you have any tips they would be very appreciated. Thank you. and good luck on your next event.
I am sorry, but I can't approve of you mothers and fathers allowing your little girls have hair, dress and sooooooooo much make up that they look like they are 25 years old just to win a Little Girl Beauty Pageant. The key words here are LITTLE GIRLS. And I really hate it when you moms and dads say on TV that you are doing this because your daughters really want it. I have seen the little girls crying, pitching fits not wanting to do this and I have seen one who didn't make it in the top 5 and she saw her mom run into a room crying because of it and this little girl told the camera she was alright with not winning, but her mom was not. Who is it here that wants to win? My main reason for being against these pageants and the moms and dads is: We have enough problems with sexual offenders in this world and you parents and pageant promoters are FEEDING these sexual offenders with these pageants. PLEASE STOP!!!! let these LITTLE GIRLS be LITTLE GIRLS. Stop trying to age them to the age of 25. And for the woman who said these pageants are just like have your child in sports. Well, I will DISAGREE with that. I don't dress my kids up to act and look an age they are not. Playing football they wear pads and helmets to protect them. Make up, fake hair, fake tanning and revealing dress doesn't protect a child. My husband and I have 3 teenagers. 2 sons and a daughter. When my daughter was growing up we were asked 100's of time to put her in modeling or pageants. We would not allow it because of all the reasons I have pointed out. If you want your daughters to be confident and be great speakers, then put them in Speech and Debate Classes. Parents wake up and smell the roses before it is tooooooo late for your daughters.
For all of you that have enough energy and will power to come in here and bash this family, could you at least use your brain long enough to spell the child's name right? Geez.
Hey "melissa_dcg" CHILL OUT LADY..my goodness! You are one step away from having a heart attack over someone else's child..And you call this CHILD ABUSE? You are soooo dramatic about all of this, it literally just blows my mind. I am 26 years old. No I have no children, but I do have 2 sisters and many younger cousins. Some of them have been in pageants when they were younger. And today, now that they are older, I never once here any regret about them doing pageants..Actually, they really miss the whole "pageant experience".. getting up on that stage and doing what they LOVE TO DO! Also, bonding with other children, getting to perform, etc...THIS IS NOT A CRIME LADY.. GET REAL Everyone has their own way to shine. If it's pageants, than so be it. My passion happened to be dancing..I've been dancing since I was 4 years old..we had to put on the make-up, the costumes, the hair - all of it..are you gonna tell me now that dancers are criminals??!! Like I said, GET REAL

hello ladies. i dont mind that you do this to your children if they want to do it, but do you watch the shows and seeing ur kids upset and our doing it for you. i am 24 dont have kids yet but one day will and your sick! if they want to do it find but your making them do some thing they dont want to. there are sports and arts that some of them look happy at doing at, your brain washing your kids!
People like you make me sick! you put your kids in these pagents and that is wrong. These little girls dont even look like little girls, they just look like 20 some odd years old when they need to be a kid and have fun, not parading around in these pointless pagents that are telling girls that they can be just like a 20 year old when they are only 6 years old. they shouldnt be spending their time doing these stupid pagents. they should be getting out there and doing a sport or getting involved in art or something that will take them somewhere in life instead of something so fake like this. you are only driving them down the wrong path, and just because you never did anything with YOUR life you have to waste your kids life on something you want. you are brainwashing your kids and it's WRONG!!! you people just need to get a life, and really stop making these girls do something that is so stupid and sooooo pointless!! it's dumb and you people are F***ING annoying!!! and im sure these girls are going to grow up thinking that beauty is everything and they will be the plastic girl in high school. and we need more rebel girls on this earth not plastic beauty queens!! so get a life you dumb Bitches!
Do you sell pageant dresses. I am interested in buying some and if you don't do you know where to get the dresses and who to contact
