Snap Judgments: A Harsh Reality

I am a single mother of two gorgeous girls and I love to live life to the fullest! I am very silly and I love to laugh and have a great time! There have been points in my life where someone has passed judgment on me only later to find out that their initial judgment of me was incorrect. When some people meet me for the first time, they tend to think I am fake or phony because I have a sunny disposition and a bubbly personality. I am often asked if I was a cheerleader in high school. (By the way, I wasn't.)

 

I also have made some initial judgments on people - some have been wrong and some have been dead on. The most instant judgment I tend to make is whether someone is ghetto or not. LOL! I usually sum up a person by how they dress, wear their hair, their personal maintenance, vocabulary, etc. Say for instance if someone is dressed from head to toe in designer clothes, shoes, purses I tend to think that person is self centered. Some times that can be the case and sometimes not.

I do believe that it is human nature to make snap judgments on people. We do it all the time, right or wrong. I tend to believe that I am a very good judge of character and usually sum people up very accurately. There was one time when I was wrong though...

It was a coworker of mine who I would see in passing through the halls, break room, etc. I would always smile and say hello and he couldn't be bothered. Eventually, he ended up on my team and having to sit next to me. Initially, when I was told he would be on my team I was like, "ugh, no personality at all." Once I met him and got to know him, he turned out to be a really nice guy with a very funny sense of humor and I was glad he was on my team.

What I want the viewers to get out of this show is that maybe we (society) should give people the benefit of the doubt and not be so hasty in our judgments against others. Especially women! Whew, women can be very harsh and brutal against one another.
