When I first met Amanda I was a little nervous about what she had in
store for me. Right away I could tell that Amanda was not a typical
bride and I wouldn't have to talk her out of electric pink bridesmaid's
dresses but I had no idea what her 'wedding style' was going to be.
Amanda is wonderfully sweet and I could tell she really wanted to have a unique and meaningful wedding but couldn't quite figure out how to bring her ideas to life in a cohesive way. Amanda and her fiancé, Jeffrey, wanted a wedding based on their Irish heritage and the values of love, friendship and loyalty. I was on board immediately as I think heritage should always be celebrated and I love including cultural traditions into wedding celebrations!
While Amanda's original plan did include some Celtic elements, most of the things she had picked out didn't really read "Irish"--so a lot of it had to go! This did not go over well with Amanda who really didn't want anything about her wedding changed, including the location: an Irish pub! While I love using unique and personal locations, it is still important to transform the party space to create an elegant event whether you are at the Ritz Carlton or in a barn yard.
After I spent some time with Amanda, we got right to work on figuring out how to incorporate her heritage into her wedding. For this I took her all over New York City to get her into the Irish spirit, including stops at central park for a carriage ride, a shopping spree at Waterford Crystal and a trip to the New York Irish center where we learned some traditional Irish customs that bring luck and good fortune.
After a few more stops and some major décor changes, Amanda was ready to walk down the aisle in style. It was not an easy one, but this transformation is one you will not want to miss! Tune in next Sunday to see how Amanda's Irish celebration turns out and if she really does have the luck of the Irish!
One of my favorite details about Amanda's wedding was the table names. As a nod to Amanda and Jeffrey's Irish background, each table was marked by the name of a different Irish whiskey instead of traditional table numbers. Choosing themed table markers is a fantastic way to weave your personality into your reception and to create a more memorable experience for your guests. Think about naming your tables after books and movies you both love or places you have visited together as a couple. Guests will love the added personal touch and your attention to detail.

Congratulations Amanda and Jeffrey. I wish you all the best.
David,
Why you didn't changed Amanda's dress after you said it didn't compliment her figure? All the show I was waiting for the new dress, like the other brides.
I love your show. It's my favorite wedding show.
This was the first time I have seen your show. I was very impressed with your attention to ALL the details. Your visions really seem to create that "Fairytale" wedding most women dream of.
I sincerely hope that Amanda was more appreciative of the gift she was given by having you make her day everything she dreamed of and a little bit more.....
David didn't change my dress because my mother and sister helped pick it out. It was the only dress that I felt like a bride in and that I felt like the woman my fiance (at the time) loved. It was so comfortable thanks to the wonderful women who did my alterations, and it was just me and my personality. Even though it was Davids vision...it was still my wedding.
Appreciative.........wow...that word doesn't even fit how I feel of the amazing transformation David gave our wedding.
We appreciate it, there were things we did not like, and that was because we weren't worried about our "vision" or David's "REvision" we were worried about our guests. David did his thing and all was well in the end.
David rocks...no hands down about it...but he also knows how to roll with the punches.
You did a great job at Amanda and Jeffs wedding. Everything was beautiful. Amanda was an old friend of mine and it was great to see her again so happy on this special day. Great job!!
I was wondering what the Waterford gift for the little ring bearer was. I can't imagine they have much for little kids. Was there a flower girl as well? I didn't see one. If so, what did she get?
I am 100% Irish and I felt that David did an amazing job with what he had to work with, But there were many things I didn't understand like all the dresses they were absolutly the ugliest things I have ever seen and the brides dress was not flattering at all and I thought David had the final word for all the details, like with the cocktail hour, they had a beautiful tent set up and they ended up breaking it down and moving inside. All of the other shows I watched David did everything his way no questions asked. With this wedding it wasn't that way. I have to say I was dissapointed I felt that they kept most of the cheesey and tacky choices and it could have been so much nicer.
In my opinion the wedding was a gorgeous traditional irish wedding. The flowers from Santos Designs were absolutely stunning!! The other flowers didn't compare!
This is a great show! I just found and fell in love with Who's Wedding is it anyway, But this one in my opinion is much better.
I really like David, I didnt honestly think that I would. LOL! But I love the fact that he goes into these people's lives and really wants to HELP them. I get really tired of some of the reality shows where designers go to great lengths to make a spectacle, and not care at all what the real people want. But this show is nothing like that and I am so pleased.
Anyway, this episode. I loved the theme, and I thought the crest was great! I love the way that he really made this wedding and bride mostly feel as special as she is. I think he goes into each situation and makes the changes that he thinks are needed. The flowers, the crystal, the china! WOW!
And I really feel that at the end of the episode I am sure he is exhausted, but he is as excited as the couple is and it really shows! GOOD JOB,
I didnt get that nor did i think was right. I mean, how un-appreciative was that? here is this wedding planner going out of his way, and she is going to have him move everything out of the tent back into the PUB? wow..... talk about TASTELSS...... it was looking gorgeous and it is what he does.
She also posted on here how she wasnt going to let David change the bm's dresses? y not? what is the big deal? and to post on here that you made it VERY CLEAR to him, is just WRONG. I would have DROPPED you and moved on to the next bride.
He had the first bride take salsa classes, 2nd bride was tought proper etiquette, 3rd singing lessons, and 4th, not that it was much, BUT he had her pick out a nice pc of lingerie for her wedding night. so what I think David should have done for this bride was have her join a GYM and lay off the twinkies.
Amanda, I have to say that you are, above and beyond my favorite bride on this, and any other wedding series. You are mature, gracious, classy, and seem to be always sure of who you are and what you want. You were a beautiful bride and will be a role model to your future daughters on how to conduct themselves. Your positive outlook and dignified way of carrying yourself never indicated for one moment, that you were unhappy with any part of your wedding. In fact I was surprised to read that you hated your hairstyle! You are proof positive that class does not mean money, it means upbringing. I'm sure your parents are proud of you, and they should be proud of themselves for raising such a wonderful daughter in this age of tabloid brides and reality nightmares. Good luck to you Mrs. Smith. If someday down the road my young daughter carries herself as you do, I will be a very fortunate indeed.
I did not read the previous comment before entering mine. This is the kind of trash talking, as deep as a puddle, immature, oh I guess I can go on and on..... Anyway, I do not enter these blogs and don't generally like them due trash talking no life morons who usually enter comments. Amanda was so self-possesed that the reality series junkies with their stick-figure mentalities cannot grasp when an actual person with feelings, and a total sense of how to carry herself is presented.
I wish the author of the previous entry would read what she said about this very real woman. Then let us take a look into her life and let us blog on it. How would that be I wonder???
David had said a word that I was wondering what the meaning is. He said the word "Chotzy", Does anybody know what this means? I live on the west coast and have never heard that word before.
OMG!!! I watched a 3 hour marathon of My Fair Wedding and I Love it! David does a great job of finding fabulous vendors. Can someone tell me the name of the salon the bride went to for her makeup. I live on Long Island and I have to go to that makeup artist. She was GREAT!!! You looked so beautiful....

Congratulations Amanda! What a fun, elegant wedding and you looked beautiful!!
Does anyone know the style of the Waterford teapot featured in this ep? I would love to give it to my grandmother for Christmas because she collects Waterford crystal.
This was in no way a "traditional" Irish wedding. However, it was nice and exactly what Amanda wanted, so I wish her and her husband the best of luck and a lifetime of happiness.
This wedding is the first one where David's total stamp wasn't on it. I think the shade of green of the cake wasn't appealing, because it was harsh. The flowers did look very nice. It was silly not to have the cocktail hour in the tent because of the setup of the building was akward.
This wedding in particular had me wondering why did she even bother to contact David, because she really didn't trust him with certain details. I don't think this wedding was as nice as the other weddings but it seemed to fit the couple. I guess at the end of the day that all that mattered. They seemed to really be in love and that was nice to see.
The name of the salon for both hair and makeup is Cutler Salon owned and managed by Rodney Cutler. There are two salons in Manhattan one in Soho and one on 57th street near Lexington Avenue. Incredible service in both locations.
What you don't see on the show is that the tent was flooded. All our guests sat in a puddle of sinking chairs in a non-air conditioned tent in August. Although the ceremony was beautiful...all our guests were hot and ruining their shoes. Also, we made a point of telling David that we had elderly guests and guests that were not able to make the trek to the facilities if they needed to. He chose not to listen...and when push comes to shove, we were to ones who paid for the reception hall.
First congratulations Amanda on your wedding! and I tip my hat to David Tutera for his amazing creative solutions which I admire anytime I see the show! You,Amanda are probably aware that your surname Becvar is most likely of the Czech origin.I assume it is,and in that case, David's choice of Irish cut glass Waterford is a wonderful bow to your ancestors. Both, the Czech and the Irish, because Waterford glass was founded by two Czech brothers who came to Ireland more than a century ago bringing with them the World renown Czech cut crystal glass tradition from their native Bohemia.
Thank you for sharing your special day with all of us!
Happy Days and Good Luck! Sincerely Elishka
Hi David, You would not believe the lengths I have gone to get through to your site , but it was all worth it. Love your show, watch it all the time, every chance I get , like what you do with the brides. My question to you is, for an older bride such as my self what chamce do I have to be on your show?. some that does not like too much publicity but like what you do. I am gettin married in August of 09 and slowly putting things together statting with the venue having a hard time finding an affordable one. Not sure if my mail will make to you or if it will ever be consider, but if it does iI would be more than delighted. funny incedently, ( green) is playing a sml. part in the bridal party. Thank you hope I could hear from you. I know you touch the hearts of those you have worked with. thank you.
Admirer.
I'm watching this episode now, after having read the comments above. I'm a bit taken by the passive-aggressive nature of the bride's comments on this board. I haven't read one that complimented David without also complaining. The comment above is a good example.
As for paying for the reception hall, the bride seems to have taken umbrage. I don't see why, since she chose it, booked it long before David was in the picture, and she insisted on using it. Why, then, wouldn't she have to pay for it? It's not a free wedding. (And what did she mean by "when push comes to shove, we were the ones who paid for the reception hall"?! Could it really have been made an issue?)
The premise of the show is that David makes revisions to the already planned wedding and implements them. She was very rigid in what she would not let him change, and she's clearly not someone you say 'no' to without consequence. I don't understand why she chose to be a part of the show when she seemed almost completely unwilling to let anything be changed.
As other shows in the series bear out, the more open - and open minded - the bride is to David's participation, the more stunning the weddings are, and they always fit so well with who the couples are.
Without giving us private particulars, how much of the total tab does Tutera's show pick up for the wedding involved, if anything?
I loved all of the episodes I've seen this far. Amanda, I believe you meant that Maximus is located on Merrick Road in Merrick. I am not connected with the salon at all. I am local and I've passed the salon too many times to count. They made you look great!
No, I meant the Maximus in Westbury located in The Source Mall. There is one located in Merrick on Merrick Road (aka Montauk HWY, Route 27), but I went for my trials at the one in Westbury. Janine did my hair and Raquel did my make-up.
Amanda and Jeff ---great wedding story -Amanda you are such a lovely girl. Now yes David made things ROCK but you were as excited as I was on my wedding day and it was SO genuine. It was clear that you did not fall into that whole bridezilla bs which is crap. I know you and Jeff are going to have a great life together just on what I saw on TV of the two of you!
David -KUDOS on the show---You get the award for the ONLY person I know who's expression remains the same no matter what is being said and you may or may not agree with---what a consumate professional you are. I got to see you on Bonnie Hunt (who I also adore) and this is how I was lucky enough to see my 1st episode with Amanda & Jeff
If your ever in Jersey and in a pinch for help at an affair I would jump at the chance to work for you. I feel Amanda was very lucky to have you but I think the feeling had to be mutual. She was lovely. Amanda without sounding stalker like I know if you and I had met in a social circle (I am a native LI girl myself) we would have made fast friends -Your funny and kind and have to good fortune as did I to marry a man who clearly adores you! God Bless --and many Irish blessings in your liifetime!

Dear David,
I thought you hated the color 'GREEN'?
In the 1st epsoide you said green had no place being in a wedding.
I liked her wedding it had a very Irish feel to it.
Why didn't you change the bridesmaids dresses, David?
TO pinkskyies:
David didn't have the chance to change the bridesmaid dresses. I made it very clear to him that he couldn't.
David did an amazing job. He understood our family situations and respected the fact that the bridesmaids could not change their dresses.
Yes...he clearly stated that he hated green. But in my episode he said that although he didn't like green he didn' hate the color I chose.
Thanks for watching and remember to catch next weeks episode...the season finale!!!
David,
You did a great job at Amanda and Jeffs wedding. Everything was beautiful. Amanda was an old friend of mine and it was great to see her again so happy on this special day. Great job!!

Does David ever answer any question posted in any of the blogs?
I was wondering what the Waterford gift for the little ring bearer was. I can't imagine they have much for little kids. Was there a flower girl as well? I didn't see one. If so, what did she get?

That makes more sense now cause in the begining he said he was, then at the end they made no comments about it.
