I use Twitter like a madwoman. Feel free to follow me to see what I'm up to. Through Twitter, I've met a lot of great people--political consultants, journalists, bloggers, and animal lovers. Recently, I've been chatting with Adam, Wendy, and their dog, Lola, from Pawlux.com. I love their mission and their support of the pet community, so I wanted to share what they are doing.

Pawlux.com offers luxury, high-quality, durable, holistic, and earth-friendly products for the everyday dog and its owners. But they also support the animal-welfare community in Pennsylvania.

I was first drawn in by their Website--it's attractive, inviting, and they have great stuff for dogs. And after talking with Wendy, I realized that this is truly a company that cares. Pawlux.com supports the Lycoming County SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and loves every minute of it.

"Last year, we participated in Paw for Cause with our dog Lola as a walker. It felt so rewarding that this year we wanted to volunteer our time and donate money for the cause. We are helping to sponsor the local Lycoming County SPCA sixth annual pet walk, Paws for a Cause, at the Susquehanna State Park on September 20, 2008. This is a major fundraising event for the SPCA to help support their mission in the care of homeless animals. In order to encourage participants in the walk, we will also be donating gift certificates and handing out goodies to our four-legged participants--no one can turn away drool-worthy treats."

When I spend money on my dogs, I seek out companies that I know are helping homeless and neglected animals. I think Pawlux.com does a fantastic job marrying quality, healthy pet toys with the importance of supporting animal welfare.

There are a myriad of reasons why Wendy and her gang support the SPCA:

They view each of the dogs at the shelter as part of the Paw Luxury family.

They believe that adopting a dog or cat is the ultimate form of recycling. This will give dogs and cats a new leash (pun intended) on life by giving them loving homes. In doing so they are saving a dog's life and supporting their local animal shelter. Also, happy dogs always make the community brighter and have a knack for bringing people from all walks of life together.

By supporting the cause, they are bringing awareness about homeless pets, animal cruelty, and neglect and helping the SPCA to continue offering these much-needed services.

The funds raised will ensure the animals at the Lycoming County SPCA receive proper vaccinations and medication, quality food, warm beds, and a sanitary environment to make their stay enjoyable. These are all things we as humans sometimes take for granted.
