coreys-story-152x130.jpgJames discusses the potential pitfalls of designer sunglasses.

By James Aguiar

I really wanted Corey to walk out a winner. She was a savvy shopper who knew what she wanted. That's why I was a little shocked that the style wall tripped her up.  Granted it's not easy, but I really thought she'd get through it!

I absolutely loved the Burberry sunglasses.  Now, please allow me to rant about shades. There are a ton of shapes, sizes, colors, and designers to choose from so it can be a bit of an overwhelming process. But the the quickest way to look "cheap" is to buy expensive sunglasses with a bunch of junk all over them. (This applies to both men and women.) Designer glasses with large logos and too many crystals that come in trendy shapes do nothing for the face. In fact, it's quite the opposite: They're distracting and can give you the appearance of trying too hard.

If you're thinking about spending more than $300 on glasses, my advice to you is this: don't. Spend your money on something more sensible like a pair of shoes or a great bag. How many times have you lost your glasses or sat on them in a car or taxi?

My absolute favorite shape is the classic aviator. It's timeless and always sexy (think Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lopez). Approach buying sunglasses the way you would a pair of prescription glasses: Go into an eyeglass store and work with a professional to find the best shape for you. Tell them your style stalker James sent you! (And if you're going for a trendier look try buying them from a street vendor or discount store. )
