Though I don't love everything about being pregnant, I just love pregnancy.

By Meagan Francis

Hi. I'm Meagan Francis, and I'm excited to introduce myself as the new pregnancy blogger for WEtv.com. I'm 20 weeks pregnant, and between now and this spring I'll be sharing the ups and downs, joys and annoyances of my pregnancy with you.

This will be my fifth baby, which means that by the time I give birth in March, I will have been pregnant for over 45 months of my life....and my experience has run the gamut. I've had pregnancy-related rashes, cramps, and twinges. I've had morning sickness, afternoon sickness, and all-night-long-when-will-it-ever-end sickness. I've carried babies up high, down low, and right in the middle. I've given birth in a hospital, at home, and at a freestanding birth center. I've had both heartburn and razor burn from trying to shave when I could no longer see my upper legs. Pretty much the only thing I haven't experienced is hearing the words "It's a girl!" (My boys are convinced that this time around we'll add a female to the family. I'm not holding my breath.)

A little more about myself: in addition to being a mom of four active and hilarious boys, I'm a freelance writer and parenting author (you can read more about that on my bio page). I spend my days wiping noses and other body parts, sweeping up endless crumbs, and writing in between wiping and sweeping--but it doesn't always go smoothly. Case in point: While trying to write this post I've been interrupted three times--first, because two of my sons were trying to pee into the toilet at the same time and the streams bounced off of each other and back out of the toilet; second, because my youngest son was wearing his brother's underwear on his head, and third, because a playful wrestling match between the two oldest became noticeably less playful after one accidentally elbowed the other in the privates. As you can probably guess, a lot of my day revolves around bodily functions and threatened "boy parts."

Though I don't love everything about being pregnant, I just love pregnancy. It's such an exciting, exhausting, and mysterious time, spent wondering who this little person you're carrying is going to be (and worrying a little about how they're going to get from there to here!) I can't wait to share my pregnancy with all of you and hope that you'll share your thoughts, worries and feelings with me as well. Bookmark or subscribe to the blog and check back often!

Yay, nothing better than a pregnancy journal. Too bad for me that you're so far ahead of me in this one. But I'll be reading!

Hi Meagan, congratulations on being pregnant with your fifth. Do you really LOVE pregnancy? Even the middle of the night nausea part of it? I think having babies is very magical but being pregnant is so ... nauseating, often. I'd love to read more about the different symptoms from each pregnancy, if you are going to do fetal testing, if anything could possibly convince you to have an abortion, and what friends and family are saying about having #5.

Congrats on the new blog, Meagan! I'd love to hear your thoughts on support during labor. I used a doula for all three births (even became friends with my doula for babies #2 & 3), but I wonder how many moms-to-be know about doulas, where to find them, or how to hire them?

Great blog, Meagan, and congratulations on the new baby! Of all the different places you've delivered, which is your favorite? Where do you plan to give birth this time?

Congratulations, Meagan! This is great. (BTW, at our house, we call two boys peeing in the toilet at the same time "peeing an 'X.'")

Wow, thanks for all the great comments and questions, guys. I'll definitely try to address all the issues you've brought up throughout the rest of my pregnancy (OMG--only 20 weeks or so left, I better get cracking!) Check back next Tuesday for a new post.
