I was surprised to realize last night that I'm quickly
approaching the 28th week of pregnancy. The last trimester is when you suddenly
realize that birth is coming up pretty soon, and oh no! There may still a lot
of unanswered questions. Questions like:
Should I use a doula? This blogger says yes, and I
definitely agree. (Wondering "What's a doula and why on earth should I use
one?" Check out this great
explanation.)
Should I write a birth plan? They've become so ubiquitous
that some women wonder if anyone even pays attention them anymore. Still, it's
a good idea to have your basic desires and wishes spelled out in an
easy-to-read document in case you're so caught up in labor that you can't
communicate with nurses, doctors and various other people involved in your
birth. Just keep it as simple as possible--Missives
from Suburbia has a hilarious example.
Do I actually have everything I need? Catherine from
Everyday Life a Lyric Poetry recently realized that--oops!--she's less
than a month from her due date and really better get to finding those baby
clothes. And downloading insurance forms. And packing that hospital bag...
Will I ever sleep comfortably again? Most likely, yes, but
perhaps not any time soon. Jennie at She Likes Purple is in the throes of
extreme nighttime uncomfy-ness, but acknowledges that despite the aches and
pains, pregnancy--at
least for her--has been pretty fun anyway.

You are too kind! I like that you took the humor from my birth plan. Mine was sort of simple out of necessity -- I have a life-threatening condition that dictated the terms of my delivery 100% -- but I was trying to keep the funny alive while going through it all! (I'm glad to say it went flawlessly.)
