I assumed my favorite part of the wedding day would be walking down the aisle with my amazing Daddy towards the man that I was about to marry, but it was not. I hate to admit this but after my girls left to pick up the guys, including my new husband, I freaked out and knew we were all late to the wedding. Worrying about having no control over the other limo and then getting panicky thinking that chaos would be in full force once we arrived “IT” happened. My limo was pulling onto the interstate and I was loudly asking about our route when I noticed the other limo was just a few cars ahead of us. I called a bridesmaid and heard Seth’s voice in the background, my entire body calmed down and I realized, “We are truly on our way to the wedding and my future husband is just ahead." The moment was surreal, even though we were all late and I had stopped along the way for fingernails, somehow by pure luck we would be arriving at the same time and the wedding was really about to happen. I turned to my Daddy and smiled. My calm only lasted a minute but was magical. Our wedding plans changed daily but began over 8 months ago. Last October we thought we had it all figured out and then every plan blew up in our faces. The blows began when we found out that the caterer no longer worked for the venue and we needed to find one asap - then our priest and the church took gossip to new levels so we decided to fire the church and have our ceremony at our reception location instead…..that’s just the beginning, the list goes on and on until we made the final wedding plan. The final plan was created less than two weeks before the wedding and somehow it turned out to be over-the-top fabulous but pure H-E-DOUBLE- L-L for everyone involved….sorry friends and family! The wonderful thing is that we have heard many people say that our wedding was the most amazing event anyone has ever attended. I am sure that family members, bridal party ladies and vendors were quite shocked that we actually pulled it off!!! * Life might seem crazy but things always seem to work out for us even when people think it is impossible….somehow!* If there was one thing I could have changed, I would have worn a different dress, stuck to my soup only diet, had on mascara that flakes off instead of creating pools of black when tears pop up and…. #1change: I WOULD HAVE HIRED A DIFFERENT BAND AS THE MAIN MUSICIANS…let me say that once again…I WOULD NOT HAVE HIRED MICKEY AND HIS BAND HAD I KNOWN WHAT MANIACS THEY WOULD BECOME>>>>>>cake anyone? After the wedding we had so much work to catch up on we postponed our Honeymoon but every day is a honeymoon to us!!! The wedding night and the next night we stayed in the penthouse of a super exclusive resort and loved every second of it. We would have stayed in the penthouse a few days longer but after all the chaos we just wanted to pick up our doggy babies and chill as a family at home. We will be doing an island hop vacation later this year from the Caribbean to Fiji and are looking forward to that trip for sure! We have only been married a few weeks so at the moment, marriage is more than I could have ever imagined. If he continues to jokingly say, “Talk to the ring,” I am quite sure we will be laughing our way well into our tenth year. Seth also thinks his ring gets too hot in the shower but he is so cute about wearing it and makes me giggle when he smiles at his hand….sooo cute! My body makes it difficult to bring a baby to full term and it will be a miracle when babies happen. Miscarriages are heartbreaking but my Dr. told me last week that with help, when our future fetus is growing, we will have a good chance of carrying our baby to term. We have stopped refilling my pill and know that when the time is right a pregnancy will happen and a baby will be born….scary to think about what that baby will be like, based on our personalities. I am tired even thinking about the energy that kid will have…..whew! Before we met both of us had stopped attempting to follow the lines in front of us, (that never quite worked out,) and accepted who we were and the odd formations our lives follow and create. Together, the chaos has doubled, the daily dramas are inevitable and luckily boredom will never be an issue in our home! We work together and live together with a studio on the second floor of our home so sometimes keeping the drama upstairs is impossible but each day our zest for life and our odd way of getting into funky situations only brings us closer together. Perfectly balanced and so in love we always end up laughing about the craziness in our daily world, dealing with the insanity as a team and making our adventures into fun. Our marriage is the combination of two highly creative people with tons of love for each other and for others often donating our time to mentor and coach young talents and to help out animals in need. Together we plan to join our talents, help others and one day maybe even buy working watches…or not! HEEHEE! Watch out world here comes Kirsten and Seth! xoxoxo |
