I am 22 years old, and I live in Elk City, Oklahoma. So my wedding day wasn't exactly what I had planned it to be. I stressed and worked hard on a billion different things, only to have it washed away in the stinkin rain. I am definitely a believer in indoor weddings now. My favorite part of my wedding day was the actual ceremony when the pastor read the letters Steven and I had written to each other. I worked on my letter for almost two months because I wanted it to be perfect. I was totally impressed with Steven's letter too! I was completely focused on Steven and it seemed like there was nothing else going on. I started planning my wedding two weeks after Steven proposed, and I continued planning for almost 8 months. I still can't believe I got everything done and now it's all over. I can't pick just one thing I would've changed about my wedding day... I would have changed a million things. I'd say the first and foremost thing I'd have different would be the weather conditions. They were absolutely uncooperative and awful. We were able to make it through the ceremony but the reception was ruined. We were actually in a tornado watch/warning during all of it. Steven I went to NYC for our honeymoon. We left two days after the wedding and stayed for six days. It was so much fun!! NYC is completely different than what we are used to in western Oklahoma. It was really neat to meet all different kinds of people and to see how everybody's culture is so different. It felt a bit surreal to be standing in Times Square or right in front of the Statue of Liberty because you see all that stuff on tv or in pictures, but you never actually imagine being there. It was a great time for Steven and I both, and I'm glad we went- together. My only gripe about the whole trip would be how expensive everything is there... geez!! When Steven and I met, he had 3 children of his own, and I had 1. Then, after a year and a half of dating, we welcomed a daughter together. We've thrown up the idea of having maybe just one more, but we haven't discussed any serious plans yet. We already have a pretty hefty house-full as it is. Steven loves the idea, and he keeps reminding me that he's not getting any younger. I feel like now that the wedding is over, Steven and I have accomplished so much. With the 17 year age difference, it has not been an easy road for us. I just hope people can understand now that we are seriously in love, and we are happy. I am extremely relieved to put the wedding past us - it was a very crazy and stressful time. |
