It’s no secret that the information superhighway is jammed with bogus “facts.” But according to a study published in the medical journal Cancer, breast cancer-oriented Websites have a high level of accuracy. Despite their good track record, remember that the following sites are designed to help inform you. Always discuss your research with your doc before taking any action.
Breast Cancer Guide:
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation: Aims to eliminate breast cancer through research, education, screening, and treatment. Includes support resources for patients, their families, and survivors. Learn about the anatomy of breast cancer through their interactive program, offered in English and Spanish.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America: Features a multidisciplinary team of experts to help cancer patients fight the disease with a personalized treatment plan. CTCA also has experts who continue to research new ways to fight the disease. Find information on treatments, doctors, and hospitals, and read the personal stories of cancer survivors.
National Breast Cancer Foundation: Provides information, including early signs and symptoms of the disease, myths, early detection, and research. Funds free mammograms for women who cannot afford them and supports research facilities nationwide.
BreastCancer.org: Nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most complete, up-to-date information about breast cancer, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Also offers news on research and clinical trials, chat rooms, and photos of breast cancer survivors.

National Breast Cancer Coalition: This grass-roots organization lobbies for public policies that impact breast-cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment. NBCC’s three main goals: To increase federal funding for research and collaborate with the scientific community to implement new models of research; to improve access to high-quality treatment and cancer clinical trials for all women; to increase the influence of breast-cancer advocates in decision making. Also provides news and information about the disease.
Breast Cancer: Medline Plus: Details on the disease’s anatomy and physiology, symptoms, treatment options, and how to deal if you receive a positive diagnosis. Extensive information on clinical trials, statistics, and risk factors, as well as an interactive tutorial in English and Spanish.

Also raises money for outreach programs, breast-health awareness workshops, and wigs and prostheses for women with limited resources.
