I volunteer at both of our local hospitals the one i have 380 hours in so far and that is saying alot because i had knee surgery and major back surgery in there and i still have 380 hours in . My thing with volunteering is that if i can just make one person smile my job is done. But i really do enjoy it gets me out of the house and i get to meet new and interesting people.

I realized the area in upstate NY wear I live, there weren't any programs to help the many teen parents in the area that were expecting or already had babies. I started a program from my home that helps teen parents with clothing, furniture, diapers, and statying in school, applying for jobs, college, etc. It's free to all teens that need help. I don't have grants or monitary donations, so if I need to buy things for the teens, I pay for it myself. I go online to local free sites to get donations of items and set up a website for the program too. I do this from my attic. I love every minute of it!

I have been volunteering 5 days a week for the past year with the Disabled American Veterans chapter near where I live. I am the adjutant for the chapter and have met literally hundreds of fascinating people. I love the job as I get to help other disabled vets. Yes, I too, am a disabled vet.
It is only by paying forward can we ever hope to fill our own cups of hope.
