I try to use my double jogger and go for a run with my girls. I bribe my 5 year old with lollipops and gum and my 1 year old with food and juice. Unfortunately, it doesn't last too long.
I always use workout DVDs. I did Billy Blanks for a while, my new favorite is Susan Powter, she just came out with a new series called Lifestyle Exchange.
I started cutting back on sweets as well. I've lost 5 lbs in one month, I'm so happy.
I am jogging about 2 miles a day- and hope to knock it up to 5 by Nov- its really hot and tough- I am always dehydrated and carrying a headache- once I get my schedule down better this will cease- I feel so much better and firmer- I am trying to snack all day instead of three huge meals- cutting out sweets and more water
When I was 38 I decided I was tired of being 295, I tried everything I could to loose weight, I went on every diet there was and worked out to every video and dvd through out my years.
One morning I knew I was going to have to go clothes shopping, I already wore wal-marts size xxxl so I was starting to wear mens size xxl just to get nicer looking shirts that didn't have loud patterens on them.
I got on the computer and looked in a few medical websites and found if I stayed under so many calories a day I could loose weight, well I never tried that before and decided I would start with 1200 calories a day, because the site said 1200 for women 1800 for men. I stated counting what I was eating everyday then I started scaling back, before long I was down to 900 calories a day. It took me a year and went to my doctor regularly to make sure I was doing it right. 5 years later and I am still at my goal of 145 pounds I am as fit as I want to be without worring about gaining weight. The only problem I face now is my body is a saggy mess when I have no clothes on, I lost my first marriage because I lost weight but my new husband tells me every day he doesn't care that my body is a saggy train wreck(my words not his). The doctor said it was no big deal that at least I wasn't fat any more but I still can't look in the mirror, and by the way I did work out with weights to keep down on the saggy skin like the doc told me too but years of stretching out the skin can not be fixed, so for you ladies who are/were as big as me for years please be prepared for the saggy skin every where, even my hands are saggy. Thank you
After Living with Fibromyalgia for most of my adult life, I now live Pain Free. Currently I do Somatic exercises to stay in shape and even use them to prepare myself for more rigorous physical activities like soccer and skiing.
Everyone's pet wakes up in the morning and does what looks like it is a stretch. If you watch "closely", watch how your pet releases itself. Little did I know that this is a somatic process known as a pandiculation, yoo-who.
I often wondered why and how animals remain so agile and limber. I've never seen a cat at any aerobic classes. I read a book on the Fact and Fallacies of Fitness and the author claims that programming your brain is more important than aerobics and strength training. I was blown away with that statement and wondered how does one go about that.
Well, I literally stumbled onto Somatics and now use the Somatic Exercises to not only keep me in the best shape of my life, they actually retrain the brain and muscles so that my function improves. Even this past summer I won 2 silver medals at the U.S. National Veteran's Soccer Cup.
And yes, I did it without lifting weights and even running to train. I had no idea that was possible and now I know it certainly is possible. The bonus is that these Somatic Exercises are tools to use to remain pain free and all you need to use is your body and gravity.
Check out a Somatics Class it may be one of the coolest things you've ever tried. It certainly works for me.
And even our three kids join in from time to time.
