you simply can not! You can cut down on the amount of hair all over with a few simple steps. Try to brush your dog every day ...take the dog outside and brush her for a good fifteen twenty monutes..get all that loose hair out. You can also try taking the dog to the groomer regularly to cut the hair short..it really helps.

Certain breeds (Golden Ret. Labs; Sheps, etc.) are simply notorious for shedding and there's not a thing you can really do with exception to minimize the amount (as ski2mars79 recommends). I train with a Shep mix everyday and we end our sessions and walks with a nice massage. She loves it and it keeps the hair shedding down! Once the winter undercoat was deep finger massaged out, the daily hand grooming has really minimized the amount she sheds! You don't even need 20 mins once you've got most of it out - it simply becomes maintenance after awhile. Just 5-10 mins a day and all that hair that flies in the breeze is no longer flying on your carpets!
It's also a nice bonding time with your dog!!

I have a black Lab named Magic. He is 6 years old and really shedding alot.I was told to change the food he eats. He's been been on a different kind of dry dog food now for about two weeks and the shedding has really minimized.

I have 6 dogs one great dane/shepard (big shedder)
one white shepard/lab mix (big shedder) 2 beagles, one rat terrier and a pit bull dont kno what she is mixed with, you can almost completley stop them from shedding ecept 2x a year its their diet, try if you can to find a dog food call VP its expensive, but it works,it takes from 1 to 3 mo depend on the dog, but all dogs shed in the spring, and fall hope this helps
