Neither...they both seem like they are the ones that need a few minutes on the couch. They must have had some bad experience with a counselor or believe the stigmas and stereotypes about therapy. Telling a couple they do not need to prepare emotionally as much as they are financially and physically for this marriage is just plain stupid and bad advice. On both their parts.
I think they are both right, the more time you spend together the more you get to know your other half, and plus it's the small things that later in life you'll wish you had done.
