planning my wedding
has anybody out there ever plan their own wedding? If you have please let me know if it was a good experiance, because i am planning to do the same myself. Afer that i will decide if being an event planner is the path for me. What do you think out there?

Well I am not married yet but most of the planning is done. I thought about a wedding planner, in fact i started out with one...but she was only taking me to her Vendors and using her Ideas. The vendors were overpriced and ehr ideas, used before 10 over. So i went out on my own, found less expensive everything and had a great time doing it. If you hire a planner they ussually charge about 10% of the total wedding budget. To me too expensive for somethign you can totally do yourself. Well whatever you decide to do good luck!
Yes I planned my wedding and it was a lot of fun. As long as you get everything done in plenty of time it is not as stressful as you would think. Th only thing that I would suggest is to bring a copy of all of your vendors info with you on your wedding day. That way if they are late or do something wrong you are able to contact them asap. Good luck!
Thank you very much for your insight, my soon to be and i are planning our wedding, it is a lot of fun shopping for things and looking for stuff together. I already came up with some great ideas. The best part of it is that he will cater for our event,he is a chef.Since you planned your wedding, have you ever thought about becoming a planner yourself. That is the reason why i decided to plan my own wedding just to see if i have what it takes
to be a planner. What do you think?
Well YOUR wedding is YOUR wedding, someone elses is someone elses..It depends. Listen if you thinkyou can do then try it..if it does not work out you can always go get an office job or something. But at least you tried. Hay if you put your mind and your soul into it, you could very well be the next Dave Tutora! Try it you only get one life! Just make sure you can always put cloths on your back, a roof over your head, and food in your mouth...everything else is a luxury!
I'm in the process of planning my wedding, and other than the usual stress, it hasn't been too bad.
That said, I think that it's important to remember that planning your wedding will not give you an exact idea of what it would be like to plan someone else's wedding. While you, as a planner, would obviously care about your client, you won't have the same degree of emotional attachment to each and every aspect. So, in that regard, it may actually be easier to plan an event for someone else. You will have a much more un-biased opinion about a lot of the details, and for everything else, the client will be doing most of the "deciding." You would be focused more on finding vendors and providing the client with options. Whatever you end up doing, good luck! I think it would be insanely fun to be a wedding planner, as long as you don't let the crazy brides get the better of you!
I am right now and I know I am only 20 years old and I might be young but I have found my soul mate!! and Planning a wedding is so much harder then I thought!! especially when I have some many other things goin on!!! any ideas of how to make it a little easier???
Spruance & Zenalise... I have began planning my 2nd wedding. Its not until Sept 09, but the more time you have, the better it is..trust me. As brides we all want that day to be special and perfect, but we all know that nothing is perfect..so we settle on as close to perfect as possible. I planned my 1st wedding over 11 years ago and I have learned that it is the most difficult thing to pull off when you do everything by yourself. So my advice to you ladies is that if you have a close friend(s) or family member that has offer any help to assist with your planning and knows your style and taste...ACCEPT THE HELP...but remember only deal with people who are dependable, reliable, and knows how important this day is to you and your groom.
i'm still planning the wedding i have to go get my dress and everything!!!!!!! it will be so great!!
It’s great I am planning my wedding and I love every moment of it.
I am a wedding planner. I became interested from doing my own. There were so many "day of" things that went on, that is was kinda hard to focus on my husband. Plus it was a destination wedding for most of our friends and family, and I wasn't really able to spend as much time with them. But through it all, I wasn't stressed out. I thought if I could be this calm while planning my own wedding, then I could do it for other brides, that maybe don't deal well with planning. So, it's really your call, if you aren't the type to get sooo caught up in the stress, then more likely you'll be fine. But, if you want someone else to make sure that all of your ideas, and planning come together on your day (so you can just have fun), then hiring a wedding planner is the best thing.
I am getting married next year and am planning my own wedding. I much rather it because its way more personal. You can do what you want and add your own special touches. Its not really that hard if you have enough time you can take your time and get everything right. I think you will do great. Good luck!
