I didn't see the first full season and have caught the shows when they show a group of them in a row. I thought I was going crazy when I saw some from the first season again until I figured out that Lauri broke out on her own. I was watching one of the old shows with her and her old partner and they were sitting on stools and Laurie kept leaning away from her and giving her sideways glances. I wonder how the shop is doing now, since her main talent jumped ship.
I prefer her new shop, the tension is gone and it much more enjoyable. If I want conflict I will change the channel and watch Cake Boss where they yell and scream all of the time. I still think the original show of this style is Charm City Cakes on Ace of Cakes, it seems like a fun place to work, they don't sweat the big stuff.
The cakes are much more imaginative, I love the Bee Hive Cake. Watching them build that and figure out how to do it was fun. Her old partner can continue to make the white on white wedding cakes, for those with more imagination, Lauri can do the job.
I am also glad to see Reva start her own shop and taking Marc with her. The tension was thick at The Cake Divas. Her old partner, who didn't make any of the cakes, took elaborate orders that had to be out in a day or two, then tells them they had to get it done. Merci Bo coupe is much more enjoyable to watch.
I just startes really watching this show and I have to say that I don't care for the it when it was cake Ateleir. I agrre that she was mean and always mad because Laurie wanted her cakes to be nice. She is a perfectionist and i would want her to be if she were doing my wedding cake. As far as Cake Diva's what did happen to them i thought they made amazing cakes and all of a sudden they aren't on there anymore does anyone know why?
I totally disagree. That other woman (can't think of her name) at Cake Ateleir was kinda mean. She rolled her eyes and talked down to Laurie all the time. Laurie never said or implied any thing uncomplimentary about her.
I do think it's interesting to watch the old shows with Cake Aleleir and Cake Divas. You can see the business falling apart and understand why they fell apart.
