Location Misleading

As I watched the show last evening, I noticed the video of cow and prairie lands. That is not Blue Valley Northwest. This is one of (if not THE) riches school district in Kansas, so I was shocked when I saw cows and country instead of malls and BMWs. These girls may not be rich, but live in a rich area!

Re: Location Misleading I think the reason they made the location so misleading is the same reason, why they didn't say the school was Blue Valley Northwest or said the girls' last names. Just to protect them. Becuase if they would have shown the sonic or the street signs it would have been easy for some person to find out where it was actually filmed. Although as a resident of Olathe I wish they would have made it look more like the suburbia it is.

Re: Location Misleading

You're right. Leawood is the Beverly Hills of Kansas.

But, come on, seriously... Other people in Kansas think that too. It's not just if you live in Overland Park. If you say you live in Overland Park, they'll judge you for it just the same.

And the show makes it look like the area is a lot more rural than it really is. I mean, for crying out loud, there's a Sonic down the street from the school. The show likes to show images of "picturesque" scenes like fields... one of them was a shot of wild buffalo. A whole herd of them. The only buffalo in Overland Park is in a petting zoo.

Re: Location Misleading Please do not mislead people, Overland Park is NOT the Beverly Hills of Kansas. It is a typical suburb. The only people who think like that are from Overland Park. I would say the show is pretty accurate of that area.

Re: Location Misleading I agree. I graduated in 1995 and the area was surrounded by farmland. I moved out of state in 1996 and didn't go back for 10 years. I couldn't recognize anything!!

Re: Location Misleading I started high school at Blue Valley Northwest in 1996. Perhaps back then, the area could have been portrayed as surrounded by farms, fields and livestock. Now, it is almost unrecognizable! The high school is surrounded by high end shopping and restaurants. I don't recognize it anymore! I did think this is misleading for viewers of the show who are not familiar with the area. In reality, this is Beverly Hills in Kansas.
I loved attending high school there. I have enjoyed the show so far.

Re: Location Misleading But wherever you are in Kansas, odds are you are not that far away from an undeveloped field. Those private farmers surrounded by development are holding out for a better price on their land. At almost any point in the KC area, drive out 20 miles or less and you will see some cows and fields. So it's not that inaccurate. Besides, there are plenty of shots of the developed areas, and the locations aren't the point of the show anyway.
