I am sorry that you have had to go through this experience. It may not seem like it now, but he has done you a tremendous favor. Look at this as him respecting your decision not to be involved in drinking and not necessarily a rejection of you. It may be difficult to look at it that way, but sometimes it helps to view the positive side of it. He respected your desire not to drink so much that he excused himself from your life. Do not let guilt or hurt cause you to forget yourself. You are your own lifelong best friend. Treat yourself as you would expect your best friend to treat you. Keep your head up sweetie.
Be strong and love yourself first is so important. There are better guys out there!
