Though I enjoy watching the show...
I still feel as though they don't really show high school as it is...Sure the girls had some problems, some bigger than the others, and I'm not saying they didn't go through emotional distress, but I went to high school in Long Beach, California. I went to Jordan High School, which is a school that is predominately African-American, and Hispanic students who listen to Rap music. I am a Caucasian student who listened to punk music. I believe I had way more problems and issues than the girls on the show.
My father left us when I was 3, a few months later my mom tells me she's pregnant with her boyfriend. Once they got married he totally rejected me. He lowered my self esteem to the point where I started slitting my wrists when I was 13. It went on all the way through 10th grade. I had my first boyfriend in 9th grade and it just led to more and more boyfriends. I did meth starting in 9th grade as well as started drinking, and taking any kind of pills I found.
My stepdad would call me fat ass so I became bulimic and then eventually anorexic which went on until the end of 10th grade. I started being made fun of starting 9th grade because first, I was white, second I was dressed in tight black pants, boots, and jackets with bands on it. So I was going to school and being made fun of, and coming home and being made fun of by my stepdad as well.
In 10th grade I had my first serious relationship and we started having sex. After we broke up I started having casual sex with different guys. A month before summer 10th grade I went to a party got drunk and ended up being in handcuffs on the floor. My mom grounded me and yet I still managed to drink, taking alcohol to school and spending all my days drunk.
That went on until October 2005, when 11th grade started and I starting going out with another guy Jesus. I ended up stopping the drinking and the drugs for him, and he did the same for me. We started having a sexual relationship in November 2005. I ended up pregnant in February 2006.I moved in with him and his family in April of that year. He stayed with me, and I finished 11th grade, But once 12th grade came in September 2006, I went the first 2 days, and ended up leaving...Being almost at my due date it was too difficult for me to sit all day, having to use the bathroom constantly, being hungry all the time.
So I had my daughter on October 2006. I went to home studies to acquire my high school diploma, but having a job, making time to do my work, and take care of a baby, they dropped me. So I am currently attending Alta-Med. A program designed for girls under the age of 19 who are pregnant or have a child, and weren't able to get their Diploma. I am still with Jesus and he is in the process of joining the United States Marine Corps.
So, after all that I went through, here I am, 18 years old, with a 1 and a half year old daughter. Everyone who sees me now noticed how happy I am now. I am unlike other young mothers, because I had my party time and I don't yearn to go out and get drunk like most underage mothers I come across.

Re: Though I enjoy watching the show...
I can kinda understand where you're comeing from, I went to a high-school in Az and it was mainly native american students and 9 times out of 10 I felt like an outsider because I couldn't speak their language,:( which was navajo.
