Just getting started

Hey, I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago, so I just got started with everything. Now here's the thing. Before I got engaged I had all these ideas, and now that I'm actually engaged I feel like I can't make a decision. It's like what if I decide something, but there's really something better out there that I don't know about? Also, I'm not getting married until 201o. I know I need to book a venue asap, but then what? Every timeline I look at has everything mapped out into one year. So far. I will be looking at some venues soon, I have a tentative guest list, and I know I want pink in my color scheme... but I don't know what other color or colors...I don't want black and I don't want pink dresses. I know this post is all over the place, but if anyone could respond that'd be great... Christine

Hi there, I am one of the wedding planners from Rich Bride and my heart went out when I read your posting.

Where do you live, I am in Toronto and I find most people here can start planning their wedding about 12 months before it is going to happen with fairly reliable results. Sometimes, too long a planning period creates more heartache than it solves.

Don't stress about the decisions - if you do, you will ruin your day. Try and take a zen attitude about it and remember, yes it is a very important day but it is just one of many days of your life. On the day you get married, the world will still revolve around the sun the same way it always has and life will exist with all the joy and pain that it always does. A had a bride recent tell me that on her way from the reception to the church she saw a funeral procession out the window of her limousine. She was actually angry with her new husband because he got nervous and screwed-up this vows. But when she saw the hearse going in the opposite direction, it put everything into perspective for her and she kissed her man hard, said a little prayer and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of her day.

Good luck with your wedding and let everyone here know how it turns out!

Yes, I say you need a wedding planner!!

I am a wedding planner and it is much easier for a bride to brainstorm with a wedding planner and go off their experience.

I just did a PINIK wedding!!

Good Luck!!

The month/season/theme of your wedding should dictate the color scheme. The SHADE of pink is also important. Go to theknot.com for help. and I agree... GET A PLANNER.

Get a grip and stop being a baby. Big enough to get married, big enough to be decisive. You need a "wedding planner." Spend a little more money to take away the worry, cheapo.

I agree with both of you. Aslo keep an eye out for wedding gowns sales. Where I live in Missouri, every year this one bridal shop has a $99.00 wedding dress sale (David's Bridal). I know it is not as dramatic as that bridal shop in New York that makes it on the news every year. but be on the look out if your budget is tight. If you a Full Figured woman, check out Lane Bryant also. And I love pink, the color brown is an excellent accent to the color pink.

You have LOTS of TIME. Relax!!!! Book your venue now if you wish. The good thing about booking now is that you can pay deposits over time so the day of is not all about sticker shock! Then start with your wedding party, choose and ask. Then go looking for dresses. Simple take the one year timeline from the books and streach it out. Because your wedding is so far away you can have a fabulous engagement party sooner and that way you can work out some of your ideas when you plan that. Have FUN with the process, most of us only get this once! BTW Pink and BROWN are awesome.

Don't start making decisions until 1 year before the wedding. Most venues (at least when I was looking for one) won't book for more than 1 year in advance, HOWEVER if there is an absolute place you want and you know there's a waiting list, book it now!!

Start buying wedding magazines and hanging out at wedding sites (theknot.com for example)! They'll help give you ideas for what to put with pink. Remember there's a variety of pink (light to dark) so a simple change in shade can through you into a new set of coordinating colors.

Good luck!!!
