My Friend Needs Help
My friend Jake's weight is out of control and if he doesn't get help I am afraid that we will not have him 10 years from now. He is only 23 and though I am unsure of his weight he has to weigh at least 350lbs. He has always been a big boy since I first met him in high school but in the 5 years since he has put on at least 90 lbs. I coming here because I am not sure of what I can do to help him. I was talking to one of our mutual friends and we both agreed that his wieght was getting dangerously out of control. We talked about having some sort of intervention for him but us both being guys are not very good at dealing with all of that personal type of stuff. The worst part is that I see great potential for him to lose weight because he enjoys bike riding, swimming, and an assortment of outdoor type activities. The activities that he does though would never offset the amount of food he takes in, and his particular love of smothering everything in ranch dressing. I spent 2 years of my life in Iraq, I've been shot at, and have been in close proximity to rocket attacks. I have lost people I know to IED's and sniper bullets, and it seems silly to me that I am loosing a close personal friend to food. I am more concerned for his life than I have ever felt for my own. What can I do to save his life?
