Loved & Controlled
I just watched the most recent episode of Secret Lives of Women and was very moved by the stories told. I was once controlled by an abusive boyfriend. I too had multiple problems with the court system. It's not as easy as most people think to escape a dangerous and posessive partner. The people that were supposed to help and protect me weren't always helpful. The system is flawed and some people that work in it are jaded. I wasn't a bitter, scorned girlfriend. I was an abused women in need of real help. I managed to escape with my son, but I live in fear every day that he may come back for me and make good on his promises to kill us both. My heart breaks for all those less fortunate than me that have paid with their lives or the lives of their family and friends. I'd like to say thank you to Amy Rezos from Ohio whom shared her story on the show. I live in the same area as she does, and the changes she has made in the courts could potentially save my life and the lives of other women. Thank you for being so brave, and fighting for us ALL.
This topic had me in tears. To see how these men treated these women and there own children. I still find myself sadden to see it ondemand period. But this topic has to be talked about. It happens everyday and alot of ppl make it out to be so easy to leave and it isn't. The laws are getting better but not as quickly as possible. The women who was found in the hotel bathroom only to file charges on her husband and she gets herself back on her feet and her ends up in the back of her car and shotting her SMDH. Than they say he is getting out of jail in 30YEARS.That aint long enough. And she admitted she is scared. Who is to say what he will be like than.
