I couldn't believe the winners Sept 20
I loved the Central Park cake, the Versailles cake, and the Cleveland cake. They were gorgeous! I felt the Russian cake lacked the color one expects to see, just as the judge said, and the African cake began well - the base was beautiful, but the rest of the cake didn't seem to carry through nearly as well. As for the Greek cake looked dumpy to me, not just simpler, but simplistic.
Very disappointed in the format- A show called "Wedding Cake Wars" would suggest more cake and less biography. Would have preferred to see more of all the cakes. Not so interested in the lives of the bakers. Don't understand why Greece placed and it looked like the top tier of Russia was about to fall apart at the end. WEtv- if you are going to do another cake show- please show us some cake.
The comment made by Judge Jeff Ellis, about Charmaine Jones, aka The Cake Diva, was totally unprofessional and totally uncalled for. Why would a person say something like that, knowing that there's a television camera crawling up behind them, unless they wanted to humiliate the victim in public? God takes care of mean-spirited people, in His own good time. Please remove him from the judge's panel ASAP.
About the format - it's nothing we haven't seen on other networks. Chef Ron adds a great smile and showmanship to any event he participates in. I wish they would have edited in a minute or two of his sense of humor.
Why did they not focus equally on all the cake artists, and why did they not focus more on the winner when editing the tapes? Her cake was beautiful.
I can empathize with those who had fondant troubles and bulges. I'm familiar with what you dealt with.
What about everyone else?!?! How do we find out about the other contestants? I loved the cake from Versaille and was bummed that it didn't place. Thought it was better than Africa.
The 'Russian' cake was the cleanest, and most representative of the 'location' theme. And clearly that cake is more appropriate for a wedding party. Can't say I would choose the Africa theme for my wedding.
