Women on Death Row & Behind bars
I'm a big fan of both of these shows, I wish they would show more of the Women on Death Row. It's so intriguing and mind blowing how they end up with the death sentence. They should turn the special into a series, I would love to see more of the death row stories.
I don't see any new episodes. Frankly, I think the show does a nice balancing act since they do engage you to watch the episode til the very end before you make a conclusion about these women. I have to saw, there are some cold hearted women in this program. Jesus. Thankfully they are all where they belong. I think the shows are effective in demonstrating that the decisions these women made have consequences.
Also, I think the reason they won't make it a series is because there aren't that many women on Death Row in the US. I think something like 40-60 total.
I think some prisons won't allow inmates to give interviews, and so I guess it'd be hard to make the episodes worth watching if one has no interview with the condemned woman.
Also, has anyone noticed that they are fairly sympathetic to the women? I'm not saying that's ALL bad-I like that they portray her as a human being, albeit a flawed one. And even if they don't straight out portray her as INNOCENT per se, I think they minimize her culpability in some ways.
