Welcome to this John Edward Cross Country episode’s blog. As an Executive Producer of JECC I’ve been trying to give some behind the scenes and inside perspective into the making of the shows. This episode, like the others, has taken a natural evolutionary course with one exception. The normal process is videotape what John has been doing off TV for decades large psychic-medium group readings. Then, let the readings spark stories we can follow...add John’s commentary…and tell us something we should all know but might need reminding. For the most part, I’ve been very happy with the results. One secret to our success is that we never stunt, fabricate, or exaggerate people’s psychic experience. We know that you appreciate that. We also have always wanted to understand what else you think about the show and spirituality in general. In this show, we mix it up a bit. This episode stays true to format—until the last act. Here’s how it came to be: Seeing how there are no coincidences, a good friend of mine, Kirby Veevers, and I once again crossed paths. Kirby has taken a mid-life redirection in her career. Like you, Kirby has always been curious about spiritual matters and the afterlife. Unlike you probably, she has spent most of her work-life staging big corporate meetings and special events. Two years ago Kirby decided to go back to college and champion palliative care and hospice work. For her Masters thesis, she created a survey to find out what people really think about dying. Cheery, right? Actually, it was pretty enlightening. I asked Kirby to help orchestrate a survey about spiritual beliefs. Andrea and Jen over at WE tv.com were very open to putting the After Life Survey up on the network’s website. Well, over 30,000 of you responded to the questions about your beliefs pertaining life, dying and the afterlife. Then, both John and Kirby respond to your answers. For us to break format was a gamble. To be validated in what the overwhelming response was—tremendous. For years I knew never to underestimate the audience, but now I have a hyper-accelerated respect. Thanks for letting us try this. The stories in the show are wonderful. John’s readings are truly remarkable (for a self-proclaimed, geographically-challenged psychic). He hits home with messages like an out-of-the-blue “Kansas” validation. How does he know such things? In the process, in this one show, Sheree and Sheila, two different women from different worlds, make amends with their mothers that had emotionally deserted them in life. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we have producing it. Please watch and see if your response to the After Life Survey is the same as our wonderful web participants. Hope we interact again soon. Best, Paul |
