Little Miss Perfect

Perfect Pageant Tips

By Michael Galanes

Little girls experience the thrill of competition! The world of entertainment is fun and glamorous! Pageants allow these little girls to experience the bright lights, potential fame and fortune, and to be a starlet for a day! I see such a high level of excitement at all of these pageants and I know that these children's exuberance is carried over to other facets of their young lives!

Little girls make friends that last a lifetime. I have served as a National Director for pageants for over 20 years. The little girls who compete share a common goal and many similar interests, thus friendships are formed through the journey. They attend each other's graduations, weddings, special events and keep in communication through the years! These friendships seem to have an incredibly strong bond and lives are enriched because of them! Go pageants!

Little girls learn to win and not win in a gracious manner. When a little girl wins, it is a great day! That day, she is the fairest of the fair! When she does not win, life goes on. There will be other events. Perhaps one of her little friends won and she learns to share the joy for her! In life, in order to truly appreciate the highs of one's lifetimes, one must experience the lows or to live with some dreams not realized! Dreams really do come true...sometimes. That's life.

Little girls learn stage presence, communication skills and self confidence. When a little girl competes in a pageant, there is no doubt she is learning many valuable skills that are sometimes overlooked in the classroom. She is learning to speak in an articulate fashion, model in a confident manner, enter a room with a bright disposition and strong confidence, she learns the importance of a sincere smile, she also learns the power of eye contact when addressing others, she learns to set short term and long term goals and develops the tenacity to achieve them! Pageants are life, the rest are just details!

Little girls are able to spend quality time with family and friends. In today's tough economic climate, parents are working more and spending a great deal of the day outside the home. Pageants are an activity that allows the parents and child to work toward a common goal, spend quality time and create memories that last a lifetime! Is there anything more important in life than this?
