Pageant Testimonials and Reactions

Pageant name: Little Miss Perfect Orlando
Pageant date: August 16, 2009
Pageant location: Orlando, FL
Child's name/age: Kelly, 9

"Kelly and I had a great time at the pageant. It was Kelly's first time in a full glitz pageant. I wasn't sure what we were in for. Although Kelly didn't win or place, it was a good learning experience. I do recommend the aid of a pageant coach. Kelly and I would have been lost without ours. Kelly now feels she can do well in any pageant. Since Little Miss Perfect, Kelly has one two other pageants. The backstage experience was different from some of the other pageants. It wasn't the way I thought it would be. I expected meanness, jealousy and backbiting. The people from Little Miss Perfect were helpful and nice. I seen sharing of hairpins, cloth tape and other things that are needed to be Little Miss Perfect. It was a very unique experience that I am glad that my daughter and I shared in." — Michelle M., mom

Child's name/age: Arabella, 2

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the Little Miss Perfect organization for a wonderful Nashville pageant. My wife and daughter enjoyed themselvs tremendously. You and I had spoken briefly at the conclusion of the Nashville pageant about my daughter Arabella, who was in the 2 year old group. The subject was about the judges suggestions/responses to Arabella. At that time, you had told me to contact you later on and you would be able to discuss their observations at a later date. My wife and I agree whole-heartedly that our daughter was not herself on stage, and we were surprised to say the least. We would appreciate their honest appraisal, and we also appreciate your willingness to help us clarify what we may be able to do in the future. Once again, thank you for a wonderful experience in the Music City, and hopefully the experience was positive enough to encourage you and your organization to make a return trip." — Greg and April W.

"There is a pageant Angel and his name is Michael. Michael is every thing an angel is supposed to be. He watched over each and every child, encouraged each one to give more than they realized they possessed, and kept nerves at bay and spirits high. Michael's love of pageantry was evident as each child took the stage. His enthusiasm was awesome! I watched Michael use his own time helping anyone one who asked and even those who were too shy to do so. He never offered advice... he offered hope. No matter who won or lost, Michael made everyone (yes, the pageant Moms, too) realize the enchantment and beauty of Little Miss Perfect. I feel for any child or parent who has not had the experience and the joy of Michael and his gift for helping children reach inside themselves and deliver their personal best. In fact, I now change my mind. He is now Angel Michael. I do believe he is a Saint (Michael). And I will NEVER forget him, and how on that fall day in Tennessee, I saw his miracle. Michael allowed each of us , not only feel like a winner, but be a part of a wondorous circle of winners. WE are lucky to have had Michael in our lives, and WE thank him." — Beauty

"We really enjoyed competing in the pageant. It was a great learning experience for us! It was a very stressful event because it was a long, drawn out pageant. Both of my girls became very tired near the end of the day. We have mostly competed on the local level and this pageant was a different experience. We didn't receive any guidance about the "wow wear" competition. The girls at this pageant had skits, did dances, used "large" props, some even used other people in their performances...we were not used to this type of competition. Now we know what to expect so hopefully next time will go over better. The families that were being videoed were given more assistance and advice before the pageant. I think this information should be shared with all the contestants so that everyone has the same advantage! It seemed like the judges had their favorites picked from the beginning! All of the staff seemed very friendly throughout the day and Michael was a lot of fun! If you consider doing this pageant make sure you do your homework before hand and you will be fine! I would like to have my girls compete again but it will be in the future when they are a little older!"  — Christy, mom

"My daughter had a wonderful time at the pageant. The cast and crew were all so great with all the girls that attended. We support and love what LMP promotes. Children in pageants can be coached, but not to the point that you do not see any of the childlike nature in the child when on stage. I agree 100% the child should smile from the heart, as the judges state. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience, and we hope the pageant and show run a long time. My family and friends enjoy the show, too."  — Lora, mom

"The LMP pageant was definitely a WOW experience for us. We are the do-it-yourself family and it was a unique experience that we will always remember. It was awesome and a little odd to see how some of the girls transformed from a normal little girl to a pageant contestant. Watching the other families, professionals and contestants made it seem a lot more like work than what I like my hobbies to feel like. I am not sure we ever want to do (or pay for) all that work, but it is interesting to say the least. For us, it was one experience of many that we share as a family."

"I had two clients that participated in this pageant. The show featured one of my girls and came to my studio in Leesburg, Florida. This was my second experience working with the camera crew from this show. They represented themselves exactly the way they said they would. They followed us during our normal preparation for the pageant and it was a positive experience for all. I do have to be honest and say that in the beginning I was afraid of them having an 'angle' and wanting to twist things around, but in the end they definitely proved me wrong. Thanks to WE tv for your professionalism and high level of respect for pageantry." — Tiffany McNeal Johnson, Professional Pageant Coach

"We had a great time at the Little Miss Perfect Knoxville pageant. I have to be honest, I was very nervous about going. I was very unsure about the tv crew and cameras being everywhere and knew the competition was going to be very tough. When we arrived at the hotel and went to the ballroom we were warmly welcomed by the director, Mr. Michael Galanes, as well as the other parents. The camera crews were not overwhelming or intimidating. I was very comfortable with the entire pageant. The judges were very nice and even sat in the ballroom the night before competition for a while. My daughter got to practice on stage too! The day of the pageant registration went smoothly and everything ran on schedule. The judges asked age appropriate questions and were polite to the girls. Even though my daughter didn't win, she was 1st runner up in the 4-6 year old group. I thought she did very well on stage and looked absolutely beautiful. We had a great time and would love to go back! I would recommend this pageant to anyone. We can't wait to see the show on tv, just hope I am not on there crying my eyes out!" — Michelle, mom

Child's name/age: Temprence, 21 months

"We Love Little Miss Perfect! This was our first time competing for the title of Little Miss Perfect and we would do it all over again. Our family and friends are huge fans of the show as a matter of fact we held weekly Little Miss Perfect Parties last season so we could watch the show with our close friends and family. When we heard they would be holding a pageant near our area we just couldn't say no. There was a lot of stiff competition in all of the age groups. We were so excited when Temprence was called as 0-23 month Little Miss Perfect Nashville. We were not expecting to win on our first try. I can honestly say I cried on stage once my daughter was announced as the winner because I was so surprised. The judges were so sweet. As for the director I have to say Mr. Michael is one of the nicest directors I have ever had the privilege to meet. He was so nice to everyone at the pageant. My daughter recognized him from TV and she wanted him to hold her. He didn't mind at all in fact he held and played with her for a little while. That really made a huge impression on me and my husband. We have done a lot of pageants over the years with both my daughter & myself but never have we met a director who wanted to be involved with the contestants like Mr. Michael. He has set a very high standard for directors out there. I urge everyone to give Little Miss Perfect a try if you get the chance."

"This is just a simple form of thanks and probably not adequate enough to express how much I appreciate you and what you do! The time and attention you gave to Peyton was extraordinary and I simply adore you for it. You are an extra special person with an exceptional spirit. Everyone has a purpose and I believe yours is to inspire...You do it very well. The energy that comes from within you. infects everyone around you in such a great way. So again, thank you so very much for being an inspiration to us all...in or out of the pageant world." — Cindi

Child's name/age: Alexandra, 2

"As a new mother in the pageant circuit, I would like to say that the Little Miss Perfect competition was a great experience for our daughter, Alexandra. With my husband currently deployed in Iraq, I was so pleased that Alexandra could be involved with this event to help distract her from her father's absence. I thought the Gaylord Opryland Hotel set the stage for the event to be a classy, relaxing weekend. We enjoyed the amenities of the hotel, and the hospitality that the hotel staff and the LMP staff gave our family. I would love to be involved in this pagaent again, and look forward to seeing the premiere on WE tv this January! Michael Galanes did a wonderful job of organizing this event and hosting it. Thank you again to all the staff of Little Miss Perfect for a wonderful start to my daughter's pagaent career." — Shanna H., 8th Grade American History Teacher

"The Little Miss Perfect pageant in Savannah was a great pageant. We enjoyed the interview, beauty and the WOW wear events. We had such a great time putting together our wow wear for Alyssa. I feel that it has brought my family closer together. My husband was not one to really like the pageants much but when he participated in the Little Miss Perfect pageant with our daughter Alyssa he saw how much joy she has when competing and he also saw that pageants can be fun. He said the Little Miss Perfect pageant is one of the best pagenats he had ever been too and that it has opened his eyes on the pageant world. He still doesn't 100% understand the joy Alyssa and I get from it but just to be able to show him a little of the joy we get was great. Thanks so much to Michael for such a great pageant and to WE tv for such a professional and fun staff! We had a blast and will remember this moment for the rest of our lives!" — Magdalena, mom

"We had a great time! Everything was well organized and the pageant itself was very fun! I could hardly tell it was being taped! Michael and all of the crew were very friendly and down to earth. My daughter placed 4th alternate and she loves her hot pink trophy! We can't wait to see the show. Thanks again to Michael, his crew and WE tv for giving my daughter this opportunity for fun, as well as being on the show. We would recommend this pageant to a friend and attend again if possible." — Robyn M., mom

Pageant date: August 30, 2009
Pageant location: Atlanta and Savannah, GA
Child's name/age: Jacee, 6

"We have actually done two Little Miss Perfect pageants. We love doing the pageant system. In Atlanta, however, I got upset with our H/M person. I don't think I was as ready as I should have been for the WOW wear competition. In all it was a fun experience. The Savannah pageant was more fun to us. We did not have cameras in our face, so it was more laid back. I think Jacee had a great WOW wear routine. Two of the judges loved it, the Nyasha said it needed more WOW, not sure how she would know that...her head was down just nearly the whole pageant. A WE tv producer came to her and told she needed to raise her head up or she was going to be on TV with her head down for the whole show. As long as she is a judge we will not do this system again. Love DEEDY! She is wonderful. DAVID is also wonderful." — Christy F., mom

"Hello Patty, Mona, and Michael,
This weekend at the state Drama competition, Victoria earned a Superior Award for her costume designs! It’s the highest award given. And I need to thank all of you, because you all played a role in her success. Your support and guidance gave Victoria the confidence and skills she needed to present her designs in a manner that was clear to the judges.

For the competition, each student spent 5 minutes presenting their designs and another 5 minutes answering questions from the judges. For a child who has never experienced something like that, it can be very intimidating. One poor child whispered during her presentation and faced her design boards the whole time. Another girl had her bangs in her face and played with them throughout her presentation. Most of the kids who compete at the state level are in 8th grade. Victoria is still in 7th.

When it was Victoria’s turn to present to the judges and a room full of parents, teachers and students, she was very prepared. She stood up straight in her T-stance, smiled, spoke clearly and made eye contact with each judge. She, finally, made a connection with the judges and even made them laugh a few times! She was very proud of herself for that. And I was proud to witness her success. But I was even happier the next morning at breakfast with her drama teacher and other parents. Her teacher announced to all of us, that “the judges loved Victoria and she was a breath of fresh air!” The other parents agreed. We’ve come a very long way. I know that Victoria would not have done so well is she hadn’t competed in pageants.

Too many people misunderstand pageants. Most think the goal is to just win a crown. But for us, every pageant is a personal competition. It’s a chance for Victoria to be the best she can be and a way to practice for job interviews and business presentations. The skills and knowledge she’s learned with you have translated into a positive influence throughout many aspects of her life. One day when Victoria’s dream comes true and she wins an Academy Award for her costume designs, you can expect to hear your name in her acceptance speech...we’ll try to get you a ticket to the show...LOL. You never know. My brother has been nominated once and his friend for his second time. Again, Thank You!" — Tracey, George and Victoria K.
