This is a girl that as soon as she walked through her front door to meet me was so nervous, and she, I learned quickly, has had several struggles in her life through the eating disorder anorexia. Even just upon meeting her, she almost felt like a person on a set of crutches who used them too much and has been ready to walk without them. This was her moment. I kept saying to her that she needed to have strength–to find her power and to feel comfortable with herself… and by the time we were done, she did.
Her theme was “Springtime in Paris.” She just LOVED France. She had every crazy notion of it, from poodles to Eiffel towers, to croissants, to berets, to cancan dancers, to Marie Antoinette, to Versailles–it was like Paris had thrown up in her house, and I needed to figure out which direction she needed to go in. But what I realized when I met her is that she was like a flower that needed to blossom and so we had to do “Springtime in Paris”–and boy did we have a springtime in Paris! It was an abundance of flowers and fragrances and beauty at her wedding.
Kristina did some things I liked… it was so cute… and I didn’t even realize it until I saw the episode. She did two things: she would reach for my hand as opposed to me reaching for hers, and when she’d hug me, she’d put her head into my shoulder–instead of just a hug, her head would wind up nestled into my shoulder. She’s a good, kind, honest, sincere person who deserved that wedding and more.
And the most important thing at that wedding was the cake. Her fiancĂ©, Vincent, had told me that they would not get married until they would both be able to share a piece of cake at their wedding. And, boy, did I make sure they had that cake! I gave them a nine foot tall Eiffel tower cake with 15 small cakes surrounding it. “Let them eat cake” was ‘Let US eat cake.’ I was beyond happy for her.
