“Lately, desserts like the Whoopie Pies have been becoming a popular option for weddings,” says Janina O’Leary, pastry chef at TRACE W Austin. “We’ve been seeing a large increase in the demand for comfort food desserts and Southern-inspired sweets. The Whoopie Pie, Moon Pie, Banana pudding and other items that remind us of growing up seem to be the new staple. This is a way for people to bring their childhood into their big day with a fun twist.”
