Heroic Deed: Saved her caregiver from a house fire
The Story: Candace Jennings of Idaho adopted Anna, an abused and neglected Australian cattle dog, in order to have a helpful pal around the house. However, she had no idea Anna would eventually be named a Humane Society Dog of Valor finalist. Anna awoke her owner early one morning after a fire had broken out in another part of the house. Once outside, Jennings ran back inside to retrieve something, but became dizzy and disoriented by the smoke. Anna ran back inside and led her back to safety moments before the roof collapsed.
