Heroic Deed: Saved owners from an assault
The Story: Christopher Rogers of Palmer, Alaska, and his fiancée Linny Moren were getting ready for bed in December 2007 when their 28-year-old son entered the room wielding a machete. According to news reports, Christopher Rogers was killed. When his son turned to strike Moren, Bear came to her rescue. The mastiff mix jumped between them, allowing her to escape into the bathroom where she called the police. Though seriously injured, Moren survived the attack thanks to Bear's quick thinking and bravery.
