The Story: Jaylynn Thorpe of Virginia wandered out of the house one afternoon in December 2008 while his babysitter was feeding her baby. His puppies, Dipstick and Boosie, followed him out. After wandering for a mile, the boy and his puppies found themselves lost in the woods. During the overnight search, which involved 300 people from Virginia and North Carolina, the puppies snuggled Jaylynn and kept him warm in the17 degree chill. A rescue worker said the puppies refused to leave the boy's side—even after his rescue. "Where he went, they went," he said.
