The judge gave George Gwaltney the stiffest possible sentence, a maximum federal prison term of 90 years and a minimum term of 30 years before becoming eligible for parole. Twelve years later, George Gwaltney died in prison of a heart attack. To the end, he claimed he was innocent and had been victim of a frame-up.
