I currently live in North Carolina, and I am working at a hospital here on one of the bases. The biggest change in my life recently is becoming a true adult, paying bills, buying my first home and my first SUV and now getting ready to have a baby. Despite all of these new experiences, nothing has really changed except I have more passion for life; my drive and determination are still as strong as ever.

Beth and I talk three to four times a week, sometimes more, and I talk with Crystle sometimes too. Since we met up in New York for the Tyra Show we’ve stayed in touch, and we’ve all stayed in touch with everyone else from the show through e-mail.

Being a part of the show didn’t affect me in high school at all. But when the show aired, that’s when it actually affected me. I was working in the hospital and I could hear people whispering, and finally someone asked me “Do I know you from somewhere?”

I miss seeing friends every day, and I miss the freedom that I had compared to being a “real adult,” which is totally different from the adult you think you are in high school, ha ha. The advice I would give someone who is in high school is don’t wish to grow up to fast. Enjoy the fun and freedom and just be responsible in your actions.

Being part of the show was a great experience. I am very happy that I participated in it, and it was great that America got to see an amazing love story unfold in front of their eyes. If I had to do it again, I would have allowed more on camera, like Jon proposing me flying back and forth seeing Jon in training etc. and opened up more, and I would not have been so afraid of getting in trouble.

My baby is due December 8, and it’s a boy. We are still talking about names, but I can’t wait to see what he looks like. As for the future, after I have the baby I’ll be working at the hospital until Jon gets out of the military and then we will be moving back to Kansas to be near our families. Then I’ll go to nursing school!!

I think that generally I do whatever I want and if it just so happens to follow the rules, then it does, but otherwise I definitely am as stubborn as a rock and I march to my own beat, ha ha.

As life changes, I deal with the changes with grace and confidence. Change is a part of life, and I think that is one thing that I have learned as a military wife: Nothing is set in stone and everything is always always changing; that is the one constant.

I don’t know really know if I am emotionally intuitive. I have learned that I am a stubborn hothead and not a very good listener. I have also found that Jonathon and I are complete opposites, but that is what works for us. I think that we balance each other out, and as long as we keep the humor going in our relationship, we are okay. You can never laugh enough.
