Lisa is a writer and a journalism professor as well as a wife and mother. Years ago, as a grad school student, she became obsessed with a classmate and stalked him. She had recently broken up with a long-time boyfriend when she struck up a friendship with a man she knew from class. He had a girlfriend, but said that he was going to break up with her at the end of the summer. Lisa developed a crush on him and believed he reciprocated her affections, but by summer’s end he still had not ended the relationship. After he told Lisa, he kissed her and when he tried to leave abrubtly she physically restrained him. She began following him around campus. Then she showed up at his door early one morning and wouldn’t stop knocking until he let her in. And finally she couldn’t stop herself from leaving dozens of messages, until finally he told her enough was enough. Later, when Lisa began writing about her experiences she realized that she had been in the wrong. She believes that the situation she was in led her to behave in a way that is not typical for her, and that she wouldn’t stalk someone again.
