Secret Lives of Women NEW SEASON Tuesday, August 18th

Heather - Satanist

Heather - Satanist
Heather is 34 years old and lives in Carlsbad, Calif. with her husband Bryan of 8 years. They met through a "Hearse car club." Heather owns a Hearse (this is her fourth hearse) and used to drive a pink one, although that one's gone now.

Heather says that Satan is the representation of everything "against"—like, rebelling against the status quo. Basically it's an atheistic belief system.

It might surprise people to know that she says there is no Devil, no Hell and no Demons. She does NOT believe in life after death or in Heaven or Hell.

Heather also puts forth that Satanism teaches that whatever you want for your life, you put the energy out there and draw from that. You should only rely only on yourself and you must always put your needs first.

Heather believes she came to Satanism through a process over time. When she was young, her mom always went to psychics who believed. At 13 years old she went to a psychic with her mom and everything the psychic said came true. She thinks that opened the door to Satanism.

She also read lots of books. At 14, Heather read the Satanic Bible. At 16, she looked into what it meant to be a Satanic Witch. And by the time she was 18 or 19 years old she had decorated her room with all sorts of satanic things. Once Heather did embrace Satanism, she realized that a "person is born a Satanist" and so she feels she was always one.

From that point on her mother always questioned her, but it wasn't until she was 23 that she actually told her mom she was a Satanist. Her mother was mostly concerned about Heather's afterlife (going to Heaven or Hell?) and how people would react to her. This hasn’t affected their relationship and Heather is still really close to her mom.

At this point Heather was married to a husband who was a Satanist also. The marriage lasted seven years. He died when she was 25.

When she was 26, she met her current man named Bryan at a Hearse car club. Bryan is a Satanist, too. They have been together for eight years now. She calls him her husband.

Heather and Bryan live in a very "Stepford neighborhood" at the end of a cul-de-sac. When the neighbors found out they were "Satanists" they "freaked out." They petitioned Heather and Bryan’s landlord and told him that they did not want their lease to be renewed. The landlord told Heather and Bryan about what happened and kept them as tenants anyway. The neighbors eventually got to know Heather and Bryan and later actually came to them to apologize.

It was in 2003 that both Bryan and Heather officially joined "The Church of Satan." They had met Rex Church also known as Diabolos Rex, in Portland, Ore. several times and Rex officially baptized them. The ritual does not use blood or wine. It does use water, "prayers," the pentagram, and sacred dirt which they must stand on. Heather says she could feel a definite energy from the earth she was on.

Two years ago, she and Bryan organized the first ever "6/06/06 international convergence of Satanists." They are putting together a DVD of the event.
