They call me “Miss Dollierocker”! In my everyday life I work from home. I design jewelry, accessories and clothing for my proprietorship called "It's All Happening." I'm a homebody and I am typically the one who does all the cooking, cleaning and taking care of the baby...the baby being my adorable shitzu poodle, Percy! My not-so-secret secret is that I am a groupie, in the classic sense of the word. I go to as many concerts as possible and usually get backstage to meet the musicians who mean so much to me. Currently I'm with a phenomenal band right here in Phoenix called the "Crash Street Kids." We have a fabulous time, all the time. While I never have considered myself an introvert, there was a point in my life where I had lost all motivation to make something fantastic out of my time here on Earth. When I met my best friend Penny Lane we decided that not only did we both want to be groupies, but that we should organize ourselves into a troop of sorts and find more like-minded girls to join us. At that point, well, my whole life changed! Suddenly I found myself wanting to succeed again. To be creative and daring, artistic and free. Some might say it's a very hippie-dippy-'60s sentiment, but that's just the kind of gal I am anyhow. Idealism is accepted in the groupie world, and we thrive on being creative and expressing ourselves...just like the musicians we worship! Most of my friends are either musicians, or groupies. Naturally they support my secret life. My family is aware of my groupie status, but there are just some things you don't go blabbing to mom and pop about. But for the most part, they are very supportive. They raised me to be an individual and as long as I have RESPECT for others and myself, I've always been able to do pretty much whatever I wanted to do. My parents support me in everything I do. But again, there are some things that I know they'd rather not hear about! That's usually true in any parent-to-child relationship, no matter if the child is actually an adult! My friends from my hometown of Wilmington, Delaware like to hear my stories when I roll into town every now and then. I don't consider my behavior overly indulgent or negative in any way. These days, when people hear the word “groupie” they are very quick to attach a connotation such as “slut” or “whore” to it. In fact, my experience as a groupie has really shaped me into the woman I am today. I go backstage because music is the light of my life. I go out with musicians because they are the men I relate to the most, and who seem to understand me unlike any other guys I've attempted to let into my life. We were the outcasts growing up, and now we're the stars of our own rock 'n roll extravaganza. It's not like going to a bar and being picked up by some sleeze ball I know nothing about...I set out to be with men I admire the most. What could be more noble than that? The friends I've made along the way are the best I've ever had. When you can relate to someone through music, a very profound connection is made. It's difficult to explain. In this age of confusion, we all need to be our own hero, and I feel that my days as a BBA have been nothing but pure magic. We harken back to the days of the counter culture, when love was free and peace wasn't just a trendy phrase. I believe in living life in the way that makes you most happy, because in the end no one can know definitively what happens to us after we die. Why worry about that for your whole life? Make each day heavenly and you can do no wrong. |
