Central Park Jogger
The crime stopped New York City in its tracks and made worldwide headlines. April, 19, 1989: a successful young investment banker, jogging in Central Park, is savagely attacked and raped. For years, it was believed that a wild gang of youths had brutalized the Central Park jogger. Five would confess and serve time. But then, 13 years later, someone else, a serial rapist, Mattias Reyes, would confess that he acted alone in the attack. A DNA test confirmed his confession, and those who had been incarcerated were exonerated, many after they had finished their sentences.
